I contacted Microsoft's live chat help because when I was trying to add another email address to my hotmail/outlook account, I was not receiving a text from them that gives me a verification code on my cell. In order for Microsoft to allow you to do this, they must first have a verification code. Their procedure is that you must have this verification code first, before you can access the area online, as to where/how you can add an account.

I tried to prevent the unwanted update on my computer from Windows 7, which I want and am completely happy with, to the unwanted Windows 10. It started updating (supposedly) to Windows 10 on its own; and nothing hardly would stop the download to Windows 10... which I don't want. Windows update, in other words, tried to force Windows 10 on me!!! I hate Windows and Microsoft... I'm going to get everything computer from Apple... Apple... Apple... Apple for me from now on!!! You should do the same... only... Apple... get Apple!!!

I had Windows 8.1 which is ok (Though XP was the best) so I thought I'd try a free upgrade to Windows 10. What disaster. Email would not work properly, games would not play, and other problems so I reinstalled Windows 8.1 from a revert to previous version of Windows site. 2 days later the entire computer crashed losing EVERYTHING on it (I had not got round to putting latest on CDs or memory sticks). So I only had a partial repair that cost 85 pound. The shop only put a 150GB hard drive in as it was the only one they had. It had 1TB Drive; Due to lack of job at present and having to pay for expensive wall repairs (and new boiler) I can't afford reupgrading it until next year. I also need to reinstall office 360 (2007 Home and Student not so good and I may eventually get the full version again unaffordable right now).

After two months using Window 10, the start menu quit working. I spent 5-6 hours working with level 1 tech and was then passed off to a level 2 tech. Another 4-5 hours with no luck, he decided to create a new User Account. I then had to reinstall all my programs and spent a number of hours getting all the latest updates and data downloads. After 4 days the same problem occurred on the new User Account. Now I have two user accounts that don't work.

I downloaded Windows Server 2012R2 Standard Evaluation Edition. I purchased a license two days later. I've read all over MS blogs about how to convert this Eval edition to legitimate one, none of the information on their site works. I called 888-352-7140 to get help. The first man I spoke with such a heavy Indian accent I couldn't understand what he was saying (this is my typical experience with Indian Tech support English speakers). I asked him to speak slower and was able to mostly understand him. He transferred me to another department which was in the Philipines. This persons English was perfect, but he was unable to help me, and transferred me again. The third person was also unable to help me. She told me I needed to call the number I mentioned above, and transferred me back to that same department.

Microsoft keeps trying to sneak Windows 10 onto my computer as an update. Going to Windows 10 is an upgrade which I ought to be able to control. I don't want Windows 10. It would wipe out all my legacy programs that I have on Windows XP and Windows 7. I also want to manage my own computer without it being invaded by corporate malware. Sneaking an unwanted program onto someone's property is malware. I'm going to complain to the NYS Attorney General about this home invasion.

I purchased my MS Surface 2 on September 5, 2014 and used it for school as it was much smaller and lighter than my laptop. I was gifted the keyboard by my partner and I purchased my leather sleeve and screen protector shortly after. It worked great from the beginning. All this changed on July 22, 2015. The touch portion of my tablet quit working. At this time I had two months left on my manufacture warranty. I called Surface support several times and went through troubleshooting. I ended up doing a refresh which fixed it for a month. The problem happened again. I called Surface support back and we ended up doing a complete re-install which wiped out everything taking it back to factory settings. This worked for about a month. The third time it happened was just after the warranty ran out.

I ordered an in-stock item + express delivery (1-2 business days), was charged for the full amount. Several days later, the item is still 'processing' and nobody can tell me why. To add insult to injury Microsoft double charged me (once on the date of the order, and again today), once again, after multiple calls to customer service (with folks who can't speak English), nobody can tell me why. Short Microsoft, Buy AAPL.

I bought Microsoft office when I purchased my Apple computer 5 years ago. Since I have already moved and Microsoft office was already installed in my computer, I did not keep the box. Microsoft have since updated to the new version and need the product key for me to use my office. I called customer service to see if they can help me. They want me to pay $99 for them to look for my product key or $169 to purchase the updated version of Microsoft office so that I can keep on using office on my computer or it will only be the "Read only" version.

I have a beef with the weekend support. Not that weekdays is any better but weeks is complete an utterly disgrace. Few points: All calls in the weekends are transferred to India. Two big problems right off the bat: Can hear a word the other person is saying and second, if the first one is in someway resolve (which they are not), you cannot understand the person due to broken language. If you somehow manage to get through, here comes the insults. You have to be extremely polite. Otherwise you get disconnected. Some of these Indians somehow have the idea that you are making them a favor by calling or they are the last people on earth they can help you.

Yesterday (October 9), I purchased a one-year technical support agreement with Microsoft and had the tech support guy remove a number of viruses from my laptop. Later, in a voice message to my phone, he said he would call me this afternoon at 4 to make sure everything was working correctly. He never called. And when I logged back into my laptop this evening, I saw that my browsers were now infected with malware that caused pop-ups and re-directs.

I owned an Xbox 360 on contract. Microsoft switched the date payments occurred. To get payment date back to original customer support had me create a new gamer tag (account) & cancel old one. My Xbox died and I bought a new one. Signed in just fine but: Am unable to download already purchased games. They say I need to repurchase since I now have (per their advice) a new gamer tag. Spent $$$ on purchasing their online games. Do not have that money available again.

The refund department of Microsoft has not sent my refund check; had it held back, am greatly disappointed. If it was a payment they would have expected me to be on time. Originally, it was suppose to have been sent out on October the 16th. It's the 20, I had to call the company and now they're saying October the 23rd. That's poor quality of consumer-ship. I think it should be known. Like everyone else I need my money. Am a college student that have enough challenges and stresses. However Microsoft has displayed that they neither care nor is concern for the needs of their customers .

I've been on the line with support for over 3 hours now with one simple request: I need a download link for Visio 2013 Standard. The site to download the link will not work. I have been transferred between 3 different departments repeatedly and all three have hung up on me at least once. I paid $250 for a license key card and just want the download. Why is that so hard to honor? One support rep even had the nerve to tell me I'd have to pay for premium support at $499 plus tax to get help with getting a download link! Why would I pay $499 for help downloading a product that I paid $250 for? I tried reaching out on chat, phone call, and Twitter. I can see the account on Twitter responding to other people, but they are ignoring me even with multiple attempts to get their attention. This company is a joke. They are trying to scam me out of $700 for one license! Are you crazy? I wish I had some legal way to get them to give me WHAT I PAID FOR!

First time called Microsoft was due to an issue with Windows 10. As they couldn't help me they hanged up! Totally rude. I had to uninstall it and fixed it myself. Then I called again today regarding my billing information and she couldn't answer my question so she hanged up!! Tell me is this kind of a procedure you guys take when a customer calls and you don't know the answer just hang up! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I'm honestly shocked with Microsoft. I never thought I would consider switching to Apple, I don't like their computers, but the experience I have had is baffling. I called technical support for what should have been a very simple problem, but one which I was having trouble searching for. I figured if I called technical support it would be very easy, they could at least tell me if there was a solution... so again, this wasn't a major technical issue I was having, it was a really basic question, which is why I shudder to think what would happen if I actually had a real problem!! I spoke to two different representatives, totaling 52 minutes of time on the phone (Keep in mind, their online chat is not any better).

Microsoft, I am thoroughly disappointed. My surface pro 3's screen cracked when I had the tablet in my lap. I was inputting data with my surface pen into an excel spreadsheet when the damage occurred. I have no clue why the damage happened and would not have wasted my time looking for answers if I handled the device improperly at that moment or before. I simply took care of the device as best as possible and felt the cracked screen was the result of a defective product. After contacting Microsoft the next morning, I was told my device would cost $50 to replace as it was covered under warranty (this employee gave me the wrong info- I still had a warranty on hardware but my company did not purchase the MS Complete warranty) but I was adamant I did not cause the damage to the screen and was not willing to pay for a replacement.

Having been made an hour late for work because the computer time somehow became an hour behind (not normal), I phoned support three times, each time being told to restart my computer and that there was therefore nothing else they could do to resolve the problem unless I paid 65 for a remote session! I refuse to pay to resolve a problem. The operators were very unhelpful and unknowledgeable and did not speak fluent English to a standard where they could fully understand what I was saying to them.

I upgraded my subscription from Office 365 Personal to 365 Home yesterday. Upon installation of the upgrade, I was required to remove my recently purchased Visio Pro for Office 365 subscriptions (I purchased 2 for 2 computers). Afterwards, I went to reinstall the Visio Pro for Office 365 software on both computers and it required me to remove the Office 365 Home I had just finished installing. After a quick loop of having to remove one to install the other, I gave up and called customer service.

I bought my Surface Pro 3 with cover (=keyboard) in late January 2015. It is supposed to have a one year warranty. The rear facing camera lens was defective (blurry). So after 8+ hours of messing with support, they replaced that original device. Then, when on a trip overseas three weeks ago, the cover did not work. Again, hours of messing with support and they send a new warranty cover replacement that does not work which makes typing onto device directly MUCH slower! So I send my device in to them and they send it back to me saying that it has intentional damage or intentional tampering! WHAT?!? It is like new. Kept in a case most of the time. They unilaterally nullified my warranty. I am really amazed, stunned, disappointed, and upset. I spent over an hour on the customer support last night with no good response.

I tried to install the Microsoft Windows 10 from their update and now my computer is in automatic repair loop. It will not do anything else and I have tried everything. I have ordered the operating system to see if it will bypass this problem. I got online and this is an ongoing problem (should have checked it before) and Microsoft does not seem to want address this. The same thing happened on just an update with my laptop 1 week after I bought it. I had to order 50.00 operating program for that one. I didn't really want Windows 10 but was afraid they may stop doing anything with 7. I will not ever, ever, ever trust Microsoft update again, period.

I had trouble reinstalling Microsoft Office 2011. Microsoft tech support scanned the computer for malware or other problems and tried to sell me a one week 24/7 tech support service for $149 or a 1 year policy for $199. This would make the computer "just like new." I have experienced this kind of sales pitch before and have NO patience for it. I had already done a scan of the computer and told the technician I was taking the laptop to the Mac store, which I did and switched to "Pages." I like Microsoft Word better, but, from my experience, Microsoft support cannot touch Apple support.

I'm not usually someone who writes a review but it was that bad. First I posted a discussion to ask if anyone knows what to do to help me and the Microsoft "team" says that personal information and doesn't want to answer. Then you get on the chat and they don't understand how to fix it, and instead of saying sorry I don't know how to fix that. Rayan ** in "tech support" (if you can call it that) just ended the chat. Then you call the hotline and someone who doesn't understand what I'm saying can't help either.

I contacted Microsoft Surface customer service 10/11/15 in order to set up a service ticket on my Surface RT that unexpectedly died. At first, the Surface would only work while plugged into the charger. The battery wouldn't ever charge. Eventually, the Surface died altogether. My wife and I only use it at home and very sparingly at that.

Microsoft is unbelievable! They are trying to force current Windows 7 (and older) owners to take this upgrade! No matter what you do you can't get rid of this Windows 10 "invasive" program platform! If I wanted it I would go out and purchase another computer with a factory installed copy! Some owners never even asked for it yet we find ourselves inundated with unwanted multiple attempts of installation!

Since updating to windows 10, I have had nothing but problems and sincerely wish I never heard of it. The latest is while windows 10 was updating itself, it removed my Frontier secure security. When I contacted Frontier they were unable to access my computer and gave me a phone number for Microsoft. Upon calling Microsoft I was passed from one to another for hours without making any headway and was finally told it was Frontier's problem. I can't think of no better reason to resort to Apple than the way Microsoft service performs.

I would like to share my experience with Microsoft product and customer service and to explain why I would switch to Apple. I purchased Surface Pro 3 as a gift to a friend of mine that loves all Google and Microsoft products. He uses it for investments and stocks purposes mostly and it sits on his nightstand at all times. So when the stocks exchange opens 5 am eastern time (we are located at central time zone) he don't have to get up and go to his office. One morning he wakes up and his display is cracked. I called Microsoft Customer support and I was told "as far as your device is under a warranty send it to us and we will send you replacement." I did that and about a week later I got an email that my device is shipped. About another week later, after I still don't have my device or tracking number.

Twice I had free contact w/ Answer Desk about why Windows 10 was displayed in the header bar of my computer (as Windows 7). I asked for a link for a screen share. Instead, she provided a link to discussion about headers in Word documents. She insisted that is what I wanted, even when I told her it was not. I told the second rep I contacted about my first experience. He boasted, "I'm the best we have." If so, they're a sorry lot. We did set up a screen share. His only response later in my input was "What was the issue?" After that, nothing. It is said that you get what you pay for. If so, I did. I downloaded a free upgrade to Windows 10. (I question accuracy of computer program written so that doesn't seem to have a firm grasp on its identity.) What little I've been exposed to the working w/ Windows 10 seems needlessly layered, complicated, & incomplete.

I attempted to upgrade my HP laptop from windows 7 to 10 but while upgrading the computer froze displaying a circle with the number "2" inside the circle. Both repair centers claimed my hard drive was dead and unable to boot windows 7 again but I managed to buy a data transfer cable and back up my files to an external hard drive. I bought a hard drive and did a clean install and thus far windows 10 has been superb on this new HDD. Unfortunately because the upgrade damaged my hard drive with windows 7 I don't have a product key to activate windows 10. I hope they fix it but I would tell anyone to do a clean install on a new hard drive with windows 10. It is awesome but it would be better if I was able to get a product key since the upgrade damaged my hard drive.

Did an upgrade from Windows 7 SP1 64bit and everything worked as it should have. Had no problems with activation. Made a Windows 10 Home 64bit DVD and then did a total clean install and the software Activated just like it should. Most problems are happening because people are doing a clean install first and not upgrading and then formatting and doing a clean install. You have to do the upgrade first so your system is recognized by the Microsoft Servers. From there you just format your drive and reload and everything works fine.

Pretty much exactly the same as windows 7 and 8.1 combined. The new search engine is TERRIBLE. Everything else is as expected and runs fine. My power went out yesterday and for several hours it always booted up into the Recovery, no way around it like in windows 7. Huge waste of time, took hours to get it to finally not bootloop.

microsoft.com
@

the upgrade was very quick to completely degrade the machine with the 100% disk usage issue, and when one searches online including MS support resources, there are so many suggested fixes. I had to re-install 10 with a boot disk. One does not expect such poorly built OS release from Microsoft. This install was on a VAIO bought from sony rewards site - that sent the machine preloaded with Windows 7, but no disk. Now, I cannot validate the product code for a Windows 7 download from MS - because it was preloaded. What rubbish!

I upgraded to this from a genuine windows 7 and it worked fine for a few days. But my computer crashed and I tried to go to a backup from a few days earlier but it would take forever, as in 1-2 hours. I had to restart my computer and then downgrade to windows 7. This review is about the business Microsoft. It seems the golden years of this company are gone. Windows XP was great. Windows Vista was a mean trick on the planet. Windows 7, well anything after Vista is wonderful. Oops Windows 8! I'd like Vista again please. Make the pain stop! Actually to get around Windows 8 I ordered a Windows 7 from a reputable online company that is based in the good old US of A. And now we are hearing talk of Windows 9... seriously! What Windows 7 isn't good enough for Microsoft? You want to ruin your reputation further? I'm guessing Bill Gates is retired or something. It's like some weirdo on the board of directors of Microsoft had a bunch of anti-money making ideas and finally when Bill Gates retired they were able to bring their evil fruit to fruition. I'm not sure if this will make any sense but I run a business so hear me out... Windows 8 is a good phone OS but a really really bad PC OS. Windows 7 works. But I'm still mad at Microsoft for killing XP. So let's compromise. Windows 8 stays on the phone and Microsoft should start shipping out Windows 7 again for the desktops and notebooks. Sorry Microsoft but I'm not going to pay $400 for a tablet with your OS on it when I can get one with the same specs for much cheaper with Android OS. And if I may say so Microsoft you seem to pay more attention to Apple marketing campaigns then consumers. Do you really think everyone is in love with Apple and imacs, ipads, and Apple notebooks? If so you are falling into Apple's hands. If I wanted an Apple computer I would go buy one. Microsoft, you ran into a lot of trouble since you started comming out with another OS every few years. They keep getting worse. You also got in hot water when you came out with an OS that would be usable on all modern devices and tried to force it down our throats like Windows Vista. Windows 8 is a great phone OS it really is. You don't need to trash it and make us hate you more by coming out with another Windows OS. Windows 7 works. Stop breaking your OS please. Microsoft if you really want to make consumers happy bring XP back. Make your next OS look like XP and be compatible with software that ran on XP. I'm not talking about silly virtual fake compatibility. You have several years. Rewrite it from scratch and make it good and make it 64 bit. And could you please improve your silly idea of a firewall. It's so easy for hackers to disable it. I fix other's computer problems for work. I also do custom builds and no one wants Windows 8.

Whenever I have a problem with Microsoft software I can never find a "free" answer. Everywhere I seem to go on their site takes me to paid problem tickets for $35 or more and then there is STILL no guarantee that they will answer the problem. For such a large company why can't there be a first line of defense which someone can analyze the problem and then let me know if it is worth paying for an answer. I also lost all use of my forms on my web site. I thought it was my web provider, but they informed me that Microsoft no longer supports their FrontPage software. WHAT ?? How can they do that to me. I don't have time to learn a new software. They suggested I purchase Web Expressions from Microsoft. It was a waste of $69 and the most un-intuitive program I've ever bought. I gave it to the local school who gave me the web site wordpress.org to revamp my website and THAT worked and I didn't have to pay for it except for a template I liked and had instructions on how to use it.

Total scam! I would give it zero stars if I could. DO NOT ever subscribe for just one month to their products! I specifically unchecked the auto renewal box when subscribing, and my receipt clearly stated for one month. Two weeks later I get an email that my card will be charged for auto renewal. Sure enough, my Microsoft account also says "auto renewal". I waited for over an HOUR for a live chat representative, only to be told they cannot access my account. I would have to call them to get a code to access my info. For how much money they rake in, and how "technologically advanced" they supposedly are, you would think their subscription and customer service systems would be more savvy.

It is best to do a manual update to Win10. It is painless and straight forward for any activated Win PC. But there will come a time when you encounter problems and Micrsoft or any "gurus" that sprung up like mushrooms within a day or 2 of the official release advised to "reset". Even if you have to reset select "maintain your existing file" rather than "clear the existing apps, settings, files". I am talking through experience here where my keyboard/mouse/USB drivers are not loaded after Win10 reset, therefore leaving me stuck staring at the "lock screen". I can do a format and reinstall Win10 with the risk of not getting the copy of Win10 not activated. because the Serial number of Win10 is a generic number from my Win PC , I had checked on my 1- Win7 (same number) , 3- Win8.1 (same number) except the product ID is different. These number cannot be used as "your own" copy serial number. Whatever you DO NOT RESET your Win10 (bcoz any marginal compatible/updated drivers) will be deleted. So now I have to down grade back to my previous Win 7 Ultimate version update all the drivers back and do a manual update to Win 10 again after Win7 is activated.(Fingers crossed)

The basic version of Office 2010 does not include Outlook Features. On many business/ Bank websites, if you try to post an e-mail from within the open pages, the format that opens is based on Outlook. It results in the mails, not dispatched, in most cases. To buy add-on Outlook is about $120. I normally do not need Outlook for my own mails except on occasions when an information is to be submitted

This evening around 7:40PM friday I received a call from a company that handles Microsoft problems. Microsoft noticed that my computer had over 56,000 errors, my computer was automatically notifying Microsoft. Well this company called me and said we will get rid of all the errors and will put in place a microsoft antivirus and a cleaner that will take care of my computer for the rest of the life of the computer. They were very nice and I was watching them fly around my computer and I thought WOW this is a great thing they are doing. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, the second person came on and said it would cost me $200.00 for these two programs for the rest of the life of the computer. Here I thought they were going to do this and since there was no mention of money when this call started, this call lasted for nearly one hour and when I told them that I could not afford $200.00 for I am on a fixed income, I am a senior citizen age 70 and also a veteran and see if they would waive the fee. Really, I could not afford that price so they said I could pay 100 now and then next month another 100, I said I could not so they then said you can pay us $60 and we will clean up your computer but will not put a cleaner program on my computer. I told them that for all the help they wanted to do for me and without the mention of money I was going to notify sitejabber how great they are and would gladly mention them to others for the thoughtfulness that they gave there customers. The next thing I hear is she hung up on me and that was that. I have not had any problems with my computer at all. I have been doing my best to protect my computer and still feel that I am ok. I have a tablet and have been using it more and more without any problems there either. I just loved how they set you up and then let you fall. No money no honey. What a really nice company they are (NOT).

Enjoyed very much with Window 10. One thing I want to point out is under language you have given English, Hindi and Sindhi (My mother tongue is Sindhi). I was delighted to see my mother tongue key board there. But when I opened the key board, it does not appear Sindhi. It is more Urdu than Sindhi and many of alphabets are quite different from Sindhi alphabets. Please it may be rectified after due verification. Thanks

Craposoft store...gave my Alienware laptop for windows 10 upgrade and I was told it will be done in 6hours. Half of the staff is walking across the store doing nothing but chatting with each other, in fact I myself help a poor lady figure what laptop she needed after I saw all the reps just chatting and discussing their private life...and as a result of this lose management, I never got my laptop back in 6 hours. I was told someone will call me when it's ready and 23 hours later when i called up the guy at the store unapologetically just told me it's ready for pick up. NO BODY CALLS NO BODY CARES ITS JUST THE SAME OLD Craposoft with a new face trying to catch up to the loosing market share to apple.

I had a great experience this September. I came in with issues with my surface, and was helped by Lendsay Brown and Carlos Solorio. Both of them were extremely polite and accommodating. This was an important experience for me because having good customer support is important in my decision to continue buying microsoft products and devices. Please give recognition to these employees!

Customer service at this location is beyond horrible. I love Microsoft devices. I have a Surface Book, Lumia, Windows 10 desktop PC that I built myself. But this is the worst Microsoft store I've ever been to. Natick and Burlington locations are better than this, and this is Boston. Sales team are clueless, they lack any desire to sell product. I have to flag people down in order for them to sell me something. And they usually pass me around to different people until one finally decides to help. I would rather spend 20 minutes driving to Natick and 20 min driving back, than spending 5 minutes walking to this store.

The staff provide great service here. This is a nice place to test out mainstream brands of laptops and phones and see what they're like. They have an Xbox testing station outside and laptops inside. People usually come here to chat, and the store has a relaxing atmosphere. On the contrary, they really want people to make the push to a Surface tablet and a Windows phone... they give all sorts of deals on those to accomplish that purpose.

Upgrade to Windows 10 erased my master boot record on my hard drive, common problem, stupid of me to not backup first, even stupider of Microsoft to not insist 9r recommend I backup before upgrade. Lost EVERYTHING, not recoverable at all. Pictures, gone, home kovies, gone. Came to store for them to install fresh windows 10 since I couldn't do anything now. Drove 40 minutes Dropped off, 4 days later, it's ready but I have to wait 20 minutes for a tech to go get my laptop and hand it to me after another 40 minute drive here. Meanwhile they keep trying to sell me services. I now hate Microsoft and will never buy again.

UPDATE - WEEK OF THE 20TH. I had a couple problems with a 2nd hand surface 3 machine and they replaced it for me - no charge, slightly our of warranty - a second hand machine - yikes. I do have a 2, a 3 and a 4 and I love my surfaces - but all that tech in a tiny sliver of a machine produces some funkiness in some units - I suspect I was just unlucky - because mostly my experience has been good. The people in the store not only know what they are doing, but if you are direct and honest with the problem, they will go an extra five miles to help you - it is a little surprising frankly. I am advocate for these machines and will buy future iterations as a result of their efforts to make me whole when problems have arisen. If we could only cox cable to adopt these service levels! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ These guys are good. I went there with a minor repair. Stayed and worked a little bit off their wifi (after they invited me to and then got me coffee.) While there I talked to three different guys about the Surface and a few other this and thats - What a great, smart personable bunch. Very Impressive. As a long time MS user, I love that corporate has smartened up and recognized they need a bricks and mortar presence like Apple. Way to go..

Love the microsoft store. Although the service is a bit uneven. Had an issue with my Surface Pro 4's flickering mouse problem where the screen was registering ghost touches, even though nothing was touching the screen. First guy the day before said they didn't honor the warranty since my company bought it from Insight. Yet, the verbiage from Microsoft themselves is that they honor the warranties despite being bought corporately. Came back the next day, and they had to get "manager approval" to honor corporate warranty buys. I showed them the insight paperwork and everyone was still confused, but I still got "manager approval" to get my Surface Pro 4 exchanged.

Being a Mac user, I was not planning to go to the Microsoft Store until my parents needed to replace their desk top PC. I knew they were used to Windows environment so I did not try to change that habit. I haven't used the newer version Windows for a while so I did have some questions when I walked in the store. The staff was very nice and patiently explained all the questions I had. He also provided me some price discount information that I did not learn on the web site. I haven't purchased the product yet but I certainly will go back to the store to buy the machine and software that fits my parents' needs.

Had a hardware issue, called Microsoft's support phone line. They checked with the Metrotown store to confirm they had replacement stock - only, when I arrived an hour later, they didn't. Had to come back a second time - and they had the wrong machine for me. In this case, though, they decided that it was their mistake, and they'd give me the replacement - even though it was a huge (and expensive) upgrade from the one I needed replaced. Can't complain about that!

Everyone I've dealt with here has been helpful and friendly, the store is a good size and seems to be well laid-out, and they even offered me something to drink! They have an excellent selection of a wide variety, which is nice if you need to try things out before you're sure what you want. Essentially this is something similar to the Apple store with one HUGE difference- there are actually enough employees at the Microsoft store! When I bought my computer and when I went back for help, I was greeted promptly by their very attentive staff. TL;DR: lots of nice staff, lots of good products.

I recently upgraded my laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After waiting a solid 6 weeks for the silly "Get Windows 10" to decide they were ready, I just downloaded the upgrade directly from the microsoft website.I wanted to do a clean fresh install of Windows 10, however you MUST upgrade first before doing a clean install. I followed these instructions, upgraded to 10 and made sure it was activated. I then formatted my computer and did a fresh install of Windows 10... which wouldn't activate. After a little internet research, some people say the system would auto activate after 24-48 hours. No Luck. Windows 10 treats itself as an OEM install - as long as you have a valid activated copy of 7, 8 or 8.1, you can upgrade to 10 and it will give your computer a generic activation key that is actually generated by the unique hardware (motherboard, harddrive, etc) that your computer contains. After the clean install, I had the error code 0xc004c003 which means the system wouldn't accept the key that windows 10 GAVE ITSELF after upgrading. I followed all the steps as required on the Microsoft website. With a sinking feeling, I decided to contact microsoft tech support directly. I explained my problem and they immediately transferred me over to the activation specialists (... or whatever they're called.) Sounds like this is a common problem.Explained the issue to the second tech, and he requested remote access to my computer. I granted the request - research had said this was the most common way to get activation issues dealt with. After about 20 mins of what seemed like nothing happening (occasional mouse movements, but obviously he was doing something on the back end that I couldn't see) he added a second tech to the remote control. They quickly changed the product key and boom, activated, no problem.I was expecting a horror story of being told to roll back to 8.1 and then do a clean install all over again, but 25 mins out of my day and they had it fixed without any arguments or questions. That was a pleasant surprise, and I would say that although it seemed like they weren't doing anything for a long time, it worked out and I am happy. Yes, the waiting around with no apparent work on my machine was disconcerting (did we lose connection? did they forget about me?), but a little bit of patience was worth it.

Microsoft US or Phillipines? They outsource to people unable to resolve issues. My computer was remotely accessed and the engineer abandoned the project mid task so my computer is now corrupted and of course I can't locate any contact number or email or correspondence address to raise this issue with Microsoft. I have bought my last ever microsoft product. Apple deserve the custom; they cost a bit more but if something goes wrong there are dedicated store tech teams available to help you.I would like to award 0 stars. Do NOT updrade to windows 10 or you will destroy your computer. Microsoft you should be ashamed of yourself, you are a disgrace and a shocking example of corporate greed.Year on year your customers are falling away and you are just making a worse mess for yourself. Disgusting company.

This is a strange one, usually when a company comes out with the new operating system or an update a competitors software stops running. This is a good one since updates, my Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, won't even open. There was a patch and several fixes none of them worked. The reason I'm sharing this with you is because I found somewhat of a solution. I had an old copy flight simulator 2002, although this program doesn't have all the features of FS 2004, it runs just fine you don't even need compatibility mode. If Microsoft gets this review I would really want to know why a later version of this software would not run but an earlier version of the software runs flawlessly. Thanks to me not throwing away my older copy of Flight Simulator, I'm flying again.

My Office 2010 worked fine. I was forced to upgrade to 365. This worked fine until I made the mistake of signing into Skype and was ended up using the online connected version of Excel.I have since found out how to get back to the local version of Office 365. However, I still cannot get my local version of Excel to work as well as previously. Downloads from Google can't be loaded directly into Excel. The formatting of cells no longer works. Etc. I'm stuck with 10 months of a 12 month contract on a product that just doesn't work as well as the previous version. I would have been better using a free version of Google.
