To be fair, moving with a company is probably always a chaotic and expensive ordeal. Still, I can't recommend King's Transfer to anyone, especially if you want clear and direct communication with the front office or between the front office and the movers.Regarding the front office: My initial phone conversation was very helpful and informative, and was the reason I opted for this company. Don't make the same mistake! Things went quickly downhill afterwards: one promise she made me turned out to be false (instead of charging me for the moving time from door to door, the contract she sent said I would be charged from door to door plus the truck's transportation time, which she then said couldn't be changed) and another required several days of renegotiation (she claimed that she had confirmed that my deposit would be refunded if the company was unavailable on my moving day, but this apparently required another confirmation for several days after the contract was written). When we finally resolved these issues, I signed the contract and made my deposit, but didn't receive any confirmation from the company until I followed up with them several weeks later. As my moving date approached, I asked (three times) how big the truck was and suggested I tell them about the size of the apartment and the amount of stuff we planned to move, but they never answered these. Finally, the front office never mentioned that I would have to pay the movers in cash when the job was done, and so after a long day of work I had to waste everybody's time as I ran to the nearest ATM to pay the guys.Regarding the movers: As I feared, the movers were shocked to learn that my apartment was on the 3rd floor and to see how much stuff I had (since nobody had asked me or visited). They were incredibly strong and helpful in general, and very nice guys, but one of them in particular was largely unable to deal with stairs. As such, he spent about half an hour (of billed time) trying to convince me to hire another mover, but I hadn't planned to pay an extra man and so I dissuaded him.Again, the movers were very helpful, especially with the big things that were too heavy for me and my girlfriend, but I also don't understand why this man was sent to a 3rd-floor move, or why a 55-year-old and a 63-year-old were assigned to the same move. Wouldn't it be much more efficient to have a younger mover paired up with an older one? The move took much longer than I expected, and though my estimate might have been unfair I can't help but wonder how long it would have taken younger movers to do.Ultimately, the movers were very helpful and nothing was broken in the move (just a few tiny scratches/dents), so the move was, in that sense, successful. Still, I was very unimpressed with the front office, including their assignment of the movers for this job, and I paid much, much more than I expected to for the experience, so I discourage you from using King's Transfer.

My boyfriend and I used King's Transfer Van Lines for a move from Montreal to Maryland in 2013. Why did I wait so long before writing a review, you ask? Well, we are now going through another long distance move and it reminded me about our "Meh" experience with them. I contacted a few moving companies before making a decision. King's Transfer were certainly not the cheapest, but they had been recommended to me by an acquaintance who had moved from Montreal to New York a year prior. The initial visit for an estimate went well and the representative did a good job. We lived in a one bedroom condo and our weight was estimated at around 2000 lbs, which was the minimum value for a long distance move (in other words, if you have 1000 lbs of stuff, they will still charge you for 2000 lbs). The estimate was around 2600$ and this is exactly what we ended up paying. It's the follow-up after the initial visit that didn't go so well. Communication with King's Transfer and our representative was just painful. It was extremely difficult to reach anyone by phone, ever, and get answers to my numerous questions. Let me say the movers were great, though. I have absolutely no complaint about them. They were quick and careful. We were lucky to live on a large boulevard where they could park their Atlas van (the large one, not the shuttle), so it definitely facilitated the experience. After this point, it was impossible to get any kind of update from King's Transfer. The van left a few days later than was originally planned, which created a delay in Maryland (obviously). On the other hand, our furniture wasn't damaged during the move.Clearly, our experience wasn't as bad as everyone else below, but it was still very stressful due to the lack of communication. And now that we're moving once more, it is, yet again, such a stressful experience that I'm wondering if it's even possible to find a reliable moving company...

Worst move ever. You don't expect brain surgeons but these guys are a motley crew. A couple of them actually scared me.. Broke a number of expensive items and generally scratched up and damaged a lot of stuff. throw  a filing cabinet down on the sidewalk with no protection .. it gets scratched up. Likewise an expensive framed piece of artwork.. no wrapping or protection of any kind and I see it leaned up against the side of a building with the frame right on the sidewalk. I then asked that it be given some special care. that was a mistake as when I saw it next it was smashed...$2k tv broken.. etc etc.Final cost was twice the estimate... never again. I've moved a number of times both personally and commercially and this was by far the worst experience.. Trying to deal with the damage claims has been a slow disinterested standoff.

I used King's Transfer Van Lines for a move from Toronto, ON, Canada to Kirkland, WA, USA.  It was a nightmare dealing with them and probably the worst and most stressful part of my move.In hindsight, I wish I would have picked a different mover or better yet gotten a U-Haul and moved the stuff myself. Here is a summary of what happened:- I contacted Atlas for my move from Toronto, ON, Canada to Kirkland, WA, USA.  They forwarded my request to many moving companies in the area.  Among others, I received a call from King's Transfer Van Lines Inc., who sent Ron Proudfoot to review the weight and provide an estimate for the move.  He was professional and conducted the review very well.  Due to his professionalism, I decided to go ahead with King's Transfer Van Lines Inc.- My stuff was picked up on time and the service was great up until that point.  I was convinced my stuff will be delivered within the promised window; possibly even sooner.- I contacted King's Transfer Van Lines Inc. about two weeks later requesting an update for the move and I was told that my stuff must be on their way and the receptionist will check with dispatch and get back to me with the exact date / time of delivery.  The receptionist did not call back.- My stuff was mistakenly stored in their warehouse for about two weeks after pickup and up my numerous calls about the status, they kept saying it is on it's way and will be delivered.  The normal communication process was something like this:I'd call and request a status update and they'd say they need to speak with dispatch, who is not currently available.  They promise to call back as soon as they have an answer but never, ever called back.  They had no regard for me as a customer, who was now living in a new place in a new country with absolutely no furniture.- Since I was getting nowhere with King's Transfer Van Lines, I contacted Atlas directly, who worked with them and got my stuff moving.  If it wasn't for them, I probably wouldn't have received my goods anywhere near the delivery date.King's Transfer Van Lines is a extremely poorly managed company and I'd highly recommend steering clear of them.  If it wasn't for the intervention from Atlas, I probably would have sued these guys for the inconvenience they caused me.

Do not use this moving company. The experience was costly and horrible. And I am not one to complain - I rejoined Yelp just so I could post this review and scare people away from this moving company. The story: All began well, with a nice visit from a kindly and personable surveyor. I chose to purchase parking permits from the city, which were put up the night before. Unbeknownst to me, however, my neighbor had hired a roofing company for the same area and the same day, at the same time (7am). So I came home in the morning to see that my street was blocked. As soon as I noticed this, I called King's and notified them. The movers arrived, however, and started yelling at me, blaming me for this imposition, when it was clearly not my fault. They actually used the phrase, "your street, your problem," as if I had ordered the roofers to block the street and somehow not informed King's. Then the movers said that 1) I had been underquoted, which "always happened," 2) I would need another person (i.e., another several hundred dollars), and 3) I would pay for their extra time and labor in coming out for naught. I knew that I did not have enough stuff to warrant three men. This was so distasteful to me that I considered canceling right then and there, yet I had no other time to move, so I decided to go ahead with it and see if they would return later that day. Indeed, that worked out (different guys working for the same mover, 2 men working 2 hours, as I'd said). Eventually, after many phone calls with Luciano - to which he can attest - I managed to argue my way out of the extra fee by threatening to back out of the move with King's. The rest of the move proceeded late but according to plan, and I will say only the best things about Qasim and his partner, Turkish Uighurs who were kind and efficient and really deserve 100% of my money, not what I assume is their measly cut. I did end up paying closer to $1000 than the $600 I was quoted. But then, when I followed up with King's (for example, telling them that I should not pay for the parking permits, which turned out to be useless), they sent me an email that blamed me for the entire thing and informed me that their gentle suggestion to add a mover was meant to "help" me. Thank you, King's, for trying to "help" me part with more money, but anyone could have told you that I did not have that much stuff, and that two people handled it perfectly well and were barely breaking a sweat. Moreover, I take offense at the idea that I just stupidly sat around and watched my neighbor block my street. In fact, King's did little to attempt to negotiate with the roofing company, while I was out in the street talking with the police about the situation that very morning. Kings's response indicates that they think that I would knowingly engineer this situation, and that they are more interested in their pride, or something, than in trying to resolve a situation that was unpleasant for the client. This is just bad business sense, in my opinion. Anyhow, all this is to say that their snide and defensive tone, and their unwillingness to give me even the shadow of the benefit of the doubt, means that I will not be recommending them to friends undertaking moves. I appreciate that they've been around for 93 years, but perhaps an old dog needs to learn some new tricks, like how to please a customer.

I had some fine furniture moved from Montreal to Los Angeles a few years back. They told me it would take 3-4 weeks at most. I ended up receiving my belongings after 9 weeks and it ended up sitting in a warehouse that whole time. A  few extremely valuable items got damaged and needed extensive repair. Just so you are aware, I paid them to have everything professionally packed. They also lost a sentimental piece of art that my late mother painted for me. This company is completely unprofessional and I would never refer them to anyone. All they did was cause me a great deal of stress. I gave them 1 star only because I ended up getting my stuff. I was not impressed at all and don't all the radio and print advertising fool you, like it did for me....

We never had such a bad experience! For a 41/2 they took 8 hours although everything was already packed. Reason: the team. The team leader was experienced and did a great job, the other experienced person (a certain Patrick) didn't work at all and let the inexperienced son of the team leader pack the truck. He only talked sat down to talk with the security guy of the building we found out at the entrance. After they finally packed the truck, the team leader noticed that it was badly done and they used another hour to try to remedy it which didn't work because upon arrival several goods were damaged. For the offloading they didn't have any carts as they normally do taking again a lot of time. The furniture was so badly assembled that we fell through the bed the first night.

I have to say, after a great start to our move, we were left VERY disapointed with the service that we received. Originally we had Shaun come and do the first part of our move and he and his crew were great, took care of all our stuff and made sure to pad everything that needed to be padded properly. We also watched them carefully load the truck and everything looked great. For the second part of our move, we had requested the same crew but were sent Shaun and 2 other guys. I dont know if this is the reason but the quality was gone. As soon as they opened the door on the truck you could see everything looked like it was just tossed in the truck, things were falling, the first thing handed to us was a completely smashed vase that my mother loved. If it had been wrapped in a pad or even a skin this wouldnt have happened..I know because I used to work at Kings myself and I know we took care of our customers belongings ( I even won a Terry award ) during the move and Wanda would look after things in the warehouse..Apart from that, Nothing was padded properly, after the move we kept finding scratched items, our walls leading to the basement were completely scratched up as well. This is completely unacceptable as the reason we hired you guys is because of the quality we thought we would get .my parents spent alot of hard earned money on this move and their intention wasnt to have all their stuff damaged. Another complaint we have is that the week before the move, I tried calling Ron Proudfoot numerous times to see when the move was schedualed for and what time we should meet the guys at the new house. Ron NEVER answered my call or even bothered to EVER call his customer back. To us, that is HORRIBLE customer service and reflects badly on your company as a whole. After several attempts and being bounced around between different ppl on the phone who had no idea of what was going on, one of the ladies told me that the guys would be leaving Mississauga at 8am and should be at the new house by 9:30-10. Well, the day of the move came and as we were getting ready to head over there at 7:30am, we get a call from the driver saying he's already there!..We were also charged for the almost 2 hours that they waited for us to get there. Had we known they were going at7:30am we also would have been there at that time!!...As you can see the second part of the move was a disaster and I hope its rectified before this goes to social media and the BBB.

This company operates with Atlas Van lines in Mississauga and Brampton and their truck drivers and helpers are very ill mannered and misbehaving people.if you call them for moving they will block neighbors driveway without home owners permission and if neighbors will ask to move the truck they will misbehave. they will bother whole street with big truck that actually don't look like a moving truck without any permit or permission and then they will misbehave if asked to move. if renting them, make sure tell them manager should advise drivers how to behave and if they are blocking neighbors they need to take permission!!!or don't rent them, there are millions of movers with good behavior.

Moved from Montreal to Toronto this winter. The weather was horribly cold, and the crew was still great & kept things lively. They warned us that the lacquer chairs table we had could be damaged by the extreme cold, and suggested that we put the items in storage to move later. Considering they were antique pieces we were not sure if we should do it or not. We ended up storing the pieces, and so thankful we did. One of the leafs from the table was packed & loaded for our new place. Once it was unwrapped the finish was cracking & lifting all over. We are so thankful for their advice! It saved a family heirloom for us. We were shocked at the price of restoring all the pieces we got if we had moved all them during the winter that the cabinet shop gave us. Thank you Kings!

They moved me from Montreal to USA, CT and it was a very good service at all points. We worked with Felipe Duarte for the moving details and he was great with paper work and explaining and setting it up. Then we had packers and movers come to our Montreal house and help pack and move the stuff. The crew was AMAZING and friendly and kind. One of the packers was also the driver and he made sure everything was packed well and organized. He was the same man who dropped the stuff off in CT. HE was the best! On time, organized and made sure our stuff was unloaded and settled before leaving! If you are doing any type of move I would Only use Kings from now on. #AMAZING

I moved on February 6th, 2016 and it went very smoothly! Prior to the move, I talked to Paul Kasner and received an accurate quote. The quote included an extra pick-up location and 3 movers. All 3 movers were very kind and asked questions on where items go. The whole process was stress-free and very well organized. They were on time, quick and careful. They dissembled large furniture items, such as beds and re-assembled them in the right rooms. Wrapped furniture so nothing would make dents, even though I told them they didn't have to, they insisted. They took off shoes when entering all 3 locations. Packed my clothes in the wardrobe boxes and even unpacked them into the closet. I can't remember their names, since it was almost a year and a half ago. But thank you so much! When it came time to pay, it was exactly the quote cost. Nothing hidden. Glad I didn't have "surprise" costs, as everything was explained from the beginning by Paul on what the costs were per hour, for travel, for everything. I definitely recommend Kings Transfer and will most likely call them again for my next move!

I have moved a couple times before, so I am a bit biased when it comes to this subject. Have had the nightmare, and have had the amazing. The amazing was when I moved here from Ontario, but these guys are easily the best that I have dealt with here in Montreal. They showed up & literally took care of everything. I had to leave at the start, but my wife just kept on going on about Mike & (Phil or Will?). When I got back after lunch I was amazed when I showed up at an empty condo because they were already delivering at our new place. Only hiccup was the scheduling part - thought they were coming at 9am, and they arrived at 8am. Were still not 100% ready if understood. Other than that I would use them again.

I have never written a review before; however, I feel compelled to warn future movers about the horrific experience my husband and I had when dealing with Kings Transfer. We were looking for a moving company to move a few of our items for a local move in Ottawa. We checked with multiple companies and decided to hire Kings Transfer because of their “professionalism.” We requested a quote online and were contacted the next day by a King’s representative who mentioned he would come to our home to see what items we were looking to have moved. We liked the fact that there was no charge for this service and felt that this company was in fact more professional for taking the time to visit our home. During the home consultation we informed the rep that we have a large 30”x90” canvas picture that is very important to us. We agreed to pay extra to have this packed and insured. Unfortunately, that’s where the professionalism ended. We scheduled our move over a month out but on the day of our move the movers never showed up. No one contacted us to inform us what had happened. We were on a tight moving schedule as we moved from an apartment to another apartment and had reserved times for the elevator at both locations. We called the company after fifteen minutes of them being late to find out that no one put our move into dispatch. Therefore, we had no movers to move us. We called our local office where we booked the movers and the lady informed me that she was in the process of subcontracting our move to another company and would call us back within “5 minutes.” Over an hour had passed and we did not receive a call back so we contacted the head office in Toronto where a gentleman took our information and informed us someone would call back “shortly.” At noon we received a call back from this gentleman explaining that Kings Transfer had subcontracted our move to another company and we would receive a phone call from them within ten minutes. We did receive a call from the new moving company who stated they would send three men to our apartment and they would arrive at 1:00. Fortunately, the men were 15 minutes early and moved diligently to get the job done (seeing as we only had the elevator until 1:00 and by 1:45 someone else had reserved the elevator leaving us scrambling to carry out the last load). However, during the move our canvas picture was damaged because Kings Transfer had not informed the new moving company of this picture. Apparently, the rep’s home visit was nothing more than a “look good” to customers scam. We were at the mercy of having them move it with large dirty blankets which caused damage to our canvas. At our new location the move was delayed past the time we were allotted; therefore, we were not able to receive our entire elevator deposit back. We moved on a Friday and on Monday we contacted Kings Transfer to explain what had happened about our picture and elevator deposit. No one apologized or did anything to make this situation right! Every person we spoke to passed the “buck” to someone else. We left message after message for multiple people. None of whom ever responded. We were given a phone number to contact the Montreal office. When we spoke with a lady there she was rude and refused to put the owner on the phone. This company refused to reimburse us the money we lost on our elevator deposit even blaming the other company for it. Kings Transfer has refused to take any steps towards rectifying their error. We move fairly frequently with our jobs and we will never use this company again! If you are looking for a moving company, I strongly recommend you do not hire this company. (If I could give this company no stars I would.)

I serached a few companies for my move on May 31st in Montreal. At beginning the price seemed more reasonable, 97 per hour with 2men, 5 wardrobe loan, 1 queen mattress protector. That is the reason that I hired them. I don't have a lot of stuff, only a queen bed, an Ikea wardrobe, some kitchen stuff, nothing big, clothes. Because I am moving on a working day, not easy to have friends over to help. That's why it will be easier to have s company to do this, especially for mattress and bed frame, pretty difficult to move by myself. First, when they came, they came toi early, we aggreed to come at 1pm, but seems like the driver or the mover wants to eat earlier, so they called me at 10am when I was still packing. They just suddenly showed up at 11:30am! Suprise! One mover is very efficient, he carried most of my stuff and disassembled my bed frame very quickly. The other one is very lazy, only came to take a few stuff, if I were the other guy, I would be mad with him, such a lazy co worker. There is no major damage for my stuff as i don't have a lot of stuff. Only thing is that my mattress got some dirts when they packed it. But I was a little shocked when they just throwed my box which has glasses inside from upstairs to downstaires. I think they want to save energy. But this is very unprofessional behavior, if I didn't wrap my glasses very welll with alk the bubbles proctoter, they would be alk broken! When it comes to payment, they wanted to charge me 145 per hour for three men! What? There were only two movers, the third one is only driver! And this is totally not on the contract! On the contreact, it says 2 men with a truck, 97 per hour! And I talked with the staff on the phone, he said because it will be more efficient to have three people! What? The third people didn't do anything, ok? He only drived there is no efficency comparison here, no matter what someone has to drive, right? You can't send two movers but they don't drive! Do you ask me to drive? How ridiculous the reason is! Anything that is not on the contract will be so unacceptable! Finally we agreed to charge me 2h30 mins instead of 3 hours because of this surprise! I woule highly suggest to keep the contract as precise as possible. Read your contract carefully especially if there is any insurance for your valued stuff! Never give in if they want to charge you extra! We are not victims, we are customers!

Moving team fantastic and highly recommend. But misinformation with the office cost me $300 extra in hotel and banking fees. They do send emails asking for feedback, but the response I got to my experience was rather passive aggressive. The only reason I give three stars and not one is for the moving team who really did a good job.

We recently hired King’s Burlington to pack and move our home, and they did a fantastic job. Everything was well packed, nothing was remotely chipped or broken during the move and the movers were highly professional and hardworking guys. King's made our move a lot less stressful and we highly recommend them. Thanks guys!
