MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE -- Went to a showroom knowing full well the scam- for giggles one afternoon with a friend, just to experience the fun firsthand. We had to pretend to be a couple to get in- that should be a tipoff to anyone right there who is questioning the legitimacy of DirectBuy. Why do they make you bring your spouse, and refuse to allow kids? Simple, they want to eliminate any excuse you may have for leaving the presentation without dropping 6k- you can't say "we have to leave, little ** here is tired" or "I have to run this by my husband"- brilliant actually, in its scumminess.

N/A -- This company is truly a fraud!!!! They live off the terms and conditions that states that they will not honor "preexisting" conditions but in no way have no true way of confirming whether or not a condition is/was preexisting-despite the complaints found online and on several sites, (always listen to your inner voice) I purchased a warranty from them anyway. My car is 6 years old and only has 71777 miles on it which is in line with the allotted annual miles.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA -- This complaint is about the violation of basic consumer right at DirectBuy. I and my wife saw an advertisement inviting us to visit the showroom at DirectBuy. When we got there, we were treated like prisoners. The basic right of a consumer to walk around a showroom to look at displays was denied us. When challenged, the store manager resorted to brute force in an attempt to kick us out. The incident occurred at the DirectBuy store in Mountain View, California on 12/6/08.

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA -- On Thursday July 16, 2015 my husband (Gerald) and I went to DirectBuy at 9454 Philips Hwy Ste 1, Jacksonville, FL 32256 at 6:00 P.M. to listen to **'s sales speech. After talking with another salesperson name ** we decided to buy one of their packages with the understanding that we could use some vacation credits towards our cruise that we were using at the end of the year. We gave a deposit (check #**) for $1,375.00 (cleared on Monday July 20, 2015) and finance the other $3,615.00.

PENNSYLVANIA -- I contacted DirectBuy for more information. What a mistake. They repeatedly called me worse than a credit card collection dept. Big sales pitch but no usable information. I took the bait and scheduled an appointment to find out more. They subject you to a grueling 90 minute sales presentation and force you to watch a video. They refuse to answer any questions until they complete their sales pitch. These people make a used car salesman look good. Here's the bottom line. It's not pretty.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA -- I've noted a large number of complaints against DirectBuy, as well as a few people claiming they benefited. I recently attended the same Mountain View, CA DirectBuy that another person wrote about in another section. We did not have the problems they had as far as rudeness, or lack of freedom to move about. Maybe the owner got the word from that person's complaints? Regardless, my wife and I came away with a certain amount of leeriness.

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Stupid is as Stupid does! I just returned from the Local Houston DirectBuy where I had scheduled on-line an "Open House". After about 30 minutes into my visit I was asked to leave because I was not paying attention to the boring mandatory video in which I had no interest but it was being thrust down my throat like a child gagging on medicine! Now then, I consider myself an intelligent person. I own my own business and hold a patent (Just like the nice man who was assigned to me for my tour...at first I felt like we had some common ground.) But now I feel like a complete idiot because I failed to google "DirectBuy Scams" before I went.

BLOOMINGTON, MINNESOTA -- They sell memberships that supposedly allow you to buy items directly from the manufacturer. But when you go to buy items the selection is small and the prices are either no better or higher than what you could get if you look around. Most items have a long lead time and are not able to be returned. The long lead time is due to the fact that there is no distribution center. Remember that they do not sell anything they are just taking your money and allowing you to contact their group of manufacturers.

KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE -- Our personal experience with a DirectBuy Open House in Knoxville, TN. My wife and I went to a DirectBuy warehouse tonight after being invited to attend an open house. The center manager was a really friendly and personable guy from Missouri (the show-me state). We both signed in, received a name badge and were introduced to our "host" who was the center manager's son-in-law. He interviewed us and we shared with him that we were remodeling and would be purchasing carpet, tile, windows, kitchen and bath appliances. He said DirectBuy would be able to save us money and seated us in a room with a TV monitor.

I bought a couch from them, I also bought a 5 year protection plan. I called them to come out to clean my couch. When service person came, he said he couldn't clean it, same person had came before to clean it. This time he said he couldn't and since he couldn't clean it, I would be getting a refund. I sent them a receipt. They told me they couldn't send me a refund because that wasn't the receipt that they were looking for. Now they won't give me my money that I gave them for services that they won't do, they are trying to take my money.

First off I have been a member since 1998 when I was renting an apt and making middle class money. It wasn't until I bought a two-family house 2 years later that I used the membership. At the time my wife was a kitchen designer for Home Depot and we got an employee discount of 10%. The house was in need of a complete makeover, we needed everything. Flooring, appliances, paint, sinks, cabinets, etc. I have found my shopping experience very rewarding and the savings have been awesome. We got solid wood cabinets for both kitchens (17x12) cheaper than the quote from Home Depot with the discount. The laminate 30 yr warranty product we got was almost 50% less than Home Depot again with the employee discount applied.

Well we went to another business to look for carpet before we went to try and use our Direct Buy membership. We have not looked into the showroom before this but it was very sloppy looking with the carpet samples. They told us that they were waiting on the cabinets. The samples should go on. They did not have many samples for a showroom. They did not have the kind we were looking for. The workers there were not helpful at all. This should not happen if the company really cares at all. Very unprofessional.

Just like all the other complaints out there, our experience is the exact same. We bought into this scam a little over 2 yrs ago with the same high pressure as everyone else. We BEGGED the salesman to be honest with us about the savings. He assured us they had all price points and that the average blue collar worker would save lots of money. CRAP!! They offer high end product and do have decent discounts, but if you are on a budget of any sort, you will not be able to afford anything. Example: We had 2 t.v.s we needed to purchase when moving into our house. Easy, right? Wrong!!! All they offer is 3D or 4D t.v.s. And even though that sounds great, we are NOT that family. We just want your typical flat screen regular old HD tv! No big bells and whistles. So we had to go elsewhere. And that has held true for all other purchases since.

After attending a presentation I signed up thinking it was going to be an awesome opportunity. Well, the very first time I went in to order appliances for the rehab of my home it was DISASTER!!! I walked up to a representative of the company and asked for help. He proceeded to guide me to a computer and sit me down. As I repeated myself telling him I needed his help, he saw an African American couple walk in, he turned away from me, addressed them and left me sitting there. Like I was a nobody. I am Caucasian and he is of color. It is the WORST prejudice experience I have ever experienced!!!

First and foremost... I am Gold member who paid for the complete service upfront! So... the initial approach to lure us in with a cheap tablet and a discount dining card and $500 DirectBuy currency, should've been the warning flare! We didn't take heed because we had a older model house that could use a few upgrades and with DirectBuy's discount it would eventually become a great rental property. So we thought... The wife and I were going back and forth on what to buy first with the $500. I made the final decision while she was out of town one weekend. I went to the storefront, Tulsa, OK (which closed down their business the very next week) and ordered some Ashley furniture (3 pieces with some of my own cash to complete the order). The process was smooth, I was like "This the best thing since sliced cheese." They told me it would take about a month. The warehouse would call me when it came in.

After seeing many ads on TV we visited Direct Buy, listened to sales pitch and being stupid took them seriously when they told us if we didn't join right then they would never ask again. We felt somewhat pressured but thought what they told us sounded like a good deal. That was over two years ago. After many searches, we have never been able to find a product through them that we could not find much less expensive somewhere else. After only a few months I tried to see about a refund but that didn't happen. We are seniors on a fixed income and that almost $4000 has been missed especially since it didn't buy us any benefit at all. I hope this review will help others to make a wiser choice. Direct Buy does not work like they say.

DON'T DO IT! I have been a member for quite some time and I have had it with DirectBuy. Call me cheap but apparently I was willing to put up with anything to save a buck. And that's about all you save after they hit you with all their additional costs. Yeah, the price may look good, but after they add their 8% handling fee, delivery charges, and tax to all of those items together, well it's not a good deal. Most of the times you can find identical items cheaper on the internet with free shipping and no tax.

Members for over ten years received renewal this year. They raised it 99 dollars. Said they raised it because we're over the ten year mark and they are bringing our renewal fees up to everyone else. We were told fees would never go up. Anyone know what to do about this.

Potential membership buyers beware! From the very beginning, and pressured sales, including the infamous, "If you don't sign up today, you'll never have another chance in your entire lifetime... this is a once in a lifetime, per-person offer." So, a $690 down payment... and a $6,724 contract for a 3-year membership, it immediately felt like a huge mistake!

A couple of years ago we bought into Direct Buy and as usual they pressure by saying if you don't buy now you will never get another opportunity, so we bought into it. The biggest mistake of my life giving that money up because they are no cheaper than nobody else and don't let them fool you. Places like Groupon and other sites you can get things much cheaper than Direct Buy, so don't let them fool you and don't waste your money. We have bought absolutely nothing off of Direct Buy since we bought into their membership because we have found things cheaper on other websites. They are nothing more than a hoax in my mind and please don't waste your money like I did.

The funds I have paid into this membership were a complete waste. After sitting through a presentation that guaranteed the best price on just about everything and discussing with the rep the specific items we were looking to purchase, we purchased the membership at almost $5000. We went to the showroom several times and looked through almost all of the books and never found the items that we discussed with the rep prior purchasing the membership. The rep guaranteed us that he would be able to find either the same or very similar items however that never happened. After multiple calls he stopped responding.

Some time in April my boyfriend and I went to a presentation at the local DirectBuy. Before we walked in I told him "no matter what they say we are not buying it." Well as you can imagine that didn't work. After the really REALLY good presentation, he fell for it and I follow. They sold us a dream! You will save money on everything you buy. You will find everything but clothes in the club. Prices are guaranteed.

Spent two hours on an invitation my husband received after my husband signed up for a drawing for a home improvement project. He thought well if nothing else they are offering us a 100 dollar gift card. The sales pitch sounded awesome but really did not have that kind of money for a membership (5000). It is pretty much sign now or go away. I figured it's probably a good deal if you're going to do a lot of improvements. We are not so we declined. She handed us the so called gift card which you have to log on to some website which we tried to log on and kept saying error so we never could use it. Just frustrating that you spend gas and time and it's like you got slapped in the face. There should be a law against deceitful advertisements. Live and learn. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is!

Was told that they would not charge 200 fee until I recouped my money the 5k+ I spend. Well they lied and office closed and headquarters would not honor it. In addition the price is the same or more as other places. So you are spending over 5k to spend more so yes it is a scam. Look at the other reviews. We know what we are talking about when we say we were scammed. We are trying to help other from being scammed. So do not join. You will regret and feel stupid for taking the bait as my wife and many others had.

I joined DirectBuy in February 2015, did not 1st start looking for an item to purchase until 3 months later. I had paid $600 down and have been making payments of $200-$300 per month. 1st time DB did not carry the item I was looking for, next item there was not select option only one item. The 3rd try, the price was higher than Amazon. I did go through DB process and saved $5, wow. I told them I wanted to cancel, and of course was told it was past the 3 day period. Now the local store is closing so I can't even go in to look at carpets, or flooring, or other possible future items, but only order online.

I find your "club" to be nothing of what you said it was to be and am so thankful that we only purchased a 2 year plan. With the closing of the local office and no real follow-up from Customer Service on several items, I would not recommend your club to anyone. In fact, I would advise them to steer clear.

I've been a member of DirectBuy for over 10 years. It went south in July 2015. Remodeling my home, wanted new hardwood floors. Contacted Armstrong Flooring while at DirectBuy, representative assured me the flooring could be glued down. Flooring arrived, installer found some of the wood was bowed. I contacted Armstrong again and this representative told me that the flooring I had order couldn't be glued and if it was bowing, return it, which I did to DirectBuy.

I have been a member of DirectBuy for 14 years. I was locked into the $99 renewal until this year and based on the savings it was well worth it. I saved on appliances, furniture, cabinets, carpet, kitchen stuff, lighting and some lawn and garden. Not so much on electronics. The problem is the people that benefit the most are young just starting out, but are least able to afford the 'initiation fee'.

I have been a DirectBuy customer since April 2005. Given when I bought into their program, my initial enrollment fee was less than $4,000. I paid $198.00 each year thereafter. However upon renewal in 2015, my annual fee was increased to $298.00 per year. I was advised the annual rate would never increase. I don't use them enough to recoup the new annual rate. This maybe my last year with them.

I returned a call to DirectBuy of Wisconsin after receiving a letter stating that we would receive a free Android Computer and a $100.00 restaurant gift card. After listening to him and him telling me that my wife and I would have to travel 90 miles to their store and take a 1 1/2 tour of the store to qualify for the computer and gift card. I told him that nowhere in the letter did it state that did I have to travel to Appleton, WI (90 miles) and take a tour. STEVE then directed me to the back side of the letter on the bottom of the page, in VERY SMALL PRINT, which gave the requirement to get the gift. In my opinion it sounds like a timeshare salesman trying to get you to buy a timeshare.

WARNING: I warn anyone tempted to purchase an auto warranty from this company!!! They were so fast to collect the money for my purchase of the warranty. But when time came to pay for repairs it took 1 to 2 weeks and being on the phone (me and my qualified repair shop) on hold numerous times. Hold times in excess of an hour!!! More than once I was disconnected. More than once they were RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL on the phone to me and the repair shop. The repair shop and dealer told me they never had dealt with a more cheap and rude company.

In the 1800's these folks would have been called "snake oil salesmen". Their whole spiel was one big lie from start to finish. Not only did we not save $ 5,000.-- during our membership term, we didn't even spend that much money there, as we found almost everything cheaper elsewhere. We were building a new home and specifically wanted Tommy Bahama Furniture, and Fanimation fans for the home. We SHOULD have been able to save the membership on those items alone, BUT when we were ready to order they said they no longer did business with either Lexington Furniture or Fanimation. We were also give a "certificate" for our third year "free". Our two years are up AND THE SHOWROOM IS CLOSED (Sarasota Florida). RUN don't walk as fast as you can from DirectBuy.

I am very unhappy with Direct Buy. I was totally treated unfairly. My husband was killed in an automobile accident on May 6, 2015. I asked management in the finance department if I could get an extension on my account because I was unemployed and I was not able to pay on the account at that particular time. They stated that they couldn't honor me an extension on the account. I feel that they should have given me an extension on the account of my situation. They did honor a payment plan, but there was a lot of miscommunication between management and the finance department. I got harassed by the finance departments several times after speaking with management and I had already made a payment on the account.

We were doing several large projects so with the savings we would get from Direct Buy would have easily justified the high membership cost. Problem is every time we went to get something from them we always found it cheaper elsewhere and did not have to pay shipping costs. So in 3 years we have not been able to use them. We requested a partial refund, but their policy is a refund within 3 days. Now we know why. Then they closed our local store! If I wanted to shop the internet for good deals I don't have to pay $4000. This company is a total rip off. DO NOT SIGN UP!!

They compared their cheaper prices to local merchandisers (FALSE). They don't allow you time to leave before making a decision (MY FAULT). Small print gives you 3 days to change your mind. PLEASE DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE WE DID. And BTW don't fall for the free trip - IT'S NOT FREE!

After spending $5,000 +/- for a membership, my store was closed down and transferred to their Anaheim, CA location which is located in Orange County, CA. They are located twice as far and have store hours 2 PM - 9 PM, which require me to drive in absurd Californian traffic... unless I went after 6:30 PM. Now they want to send you to vendors... on line to locate products... what do I need them for??? Their member service said... "Don't Renew and just quit"... They already got my money... ** Me.

My fiance and I were invited to a presentation in March 2002. It was a bit expensive for us, we were a tad skeptical during the presentation, and they put on a fair amount of pressure. Started to seem unpleasant, but we were getting married the following month and had just started building a house, so I could see the potential. I wanted to join but my fiance wanted to think about it. He told them as much and we left.

I have been a member of Direct Buy since 2006; I paid $3,100.00 for an 8 year membership and $150.00 a year after that in Maryland. I made my money back in my first project renovating my 2 bedroom+ Den 1 baths condo in 2007. In 2008 I redeveloped a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom duplex in Washington D.C. into a 2 bedroom 2 full bathroom triplex. To do this under budget I used a combination of Direct Buy, eBay and other online whole seller/retailer. During this time no one was better than Direct Buy with quality kitchen cabinets and appliances for great just at little over MRSP. I purchased 3 whirlpool tubs discontinue model, that was $200.00 per unit less than any other competitive model out.

I have been a member of direct buy for 7 years now and I have to say if you're building a house you will save money if you have the time and put in the effort to save. So when I heard they opened a travel division I thought GREAT! Not so much!!! I got the call from the travel consultant who explained to me I would get a free 7 day cruise a free 4 day cruise and a free resort 7 day certificate. I thought wow that sounds great. I told ** the consultant that I had the week of school spring off and he said, "No problem. There are so many options to take that week."

The franchise owner won't even call me back to discuss my problem. Terrible customer service! I purchased a membership from the Atlanta franchise because I was remodeling my kitchen. The staff overbooks and didn't remember what I told her so all the plans were off and if there are any mistakes, it's all on you. They don't have a design program so they email to the cabinet maker for them to create the plan...a lot of room for error. After going back and forth, bunches of emails and meetings, I finally gave them my money and waited for my cabinets.

We attended a seminar and were told we would receive a free tablet and vacation.. neither were free.. had to send in money to get them shipped and or booked... did neither (FREE means FREE right?). While we were there, we were told we had to make a decision that same day, that we would never be asked to join again. We made a deposit and they were able to make a couple of automatic payments until I was able to get my card changed. Now because they can't charge my card, they have sent me to collections...

We drove 3 hours to the presentation. The product was presented in very professional way however we felt pressured to join and was told we would not be invited again if we did not join today. I really felt that there were some hidden issues with the company, like hidden cost, and price changing during the presentation even.

A representative got our number from our business listing on Craigslist. He was extremely pushy and condescending. He said they were opening a new DirectBuy in Bothell, WA and that they were looking for good business minds like me to take a tour of their new site in Bothell. We would be under no obligation to buy anything. They would not ask us to sign anything. They just wanted our feedback. In exchange, they would gift us a 7-day, 6-night cruise to the Bahamas. All expenses paid. It sounded too good to be true and I said so. He said they just really wanted us to feel like our time was respected.

Received a letter saying free Android Touchpad Tablet Computer from our gifting department and complimentary dining card $100.00. Called and set up appointment to hear the pitch. They wanted $6800 for 1st 3 years and 400 a month after that to join club. Decided it was not for us, do the math and you will realize it is a losing proposition. You are better off at Costco or BJ's with their easy return policy and good products.

My husband and I went to a DirectBuy sales presentation. We were going to be remodeling a home and per all of their TV advertisement, it would save us thousands upon thousands to be a DirectBuy member. My husband was very interested in saving money. Most people are. It ended up being very high pressure. Had to buy it that night while you were there or you would never get the opportunity to join again. I did not feel right about it. My husband didn't want to lose the opportunity. They would not let us leave. Followed us to the door and kept at it until we wrote a check for $5000 and agreed to pay $200 yr after 5 yrs to keep membership. I left there sick to my stomach.

I bought a Dutailier rocker/recliner w/ ottoman. Order 12/5/2014 but the one received was not the correct product and returned to DirectBuy (San Antonio, TX) 12/15/2014. I had ordered the exact Dutailier product 3 years prior from DirectBuy (San Antonio, TX). The merchandise was returned to the manufacturer by DirectBuy. I was promised a refund but have been referred to customer relations at their headquarters in Indiana? I have tried to call but only get answering machines. I have an e-mail log of my communications. Also the San Antonio Direct buy has gone bankrupt. They tell me that my money was refunded to the DirectBuy in San Antonio.

We had read all of the DirectBuy reviews and thought to ourselves that the negative reviews were just because those people weren't gonna use the membership to its fullest potential and that is why they felt scammed. Our initial presentation was high pressure but we resisted and said we wanted to test some items first and they agreed. We sent in our list and we were able to save money so we decided to sign up.

Like so many customers, I was invited to a seminar and pressured into buying a very costly membership of over 6000$. (They tell you that you have to decide on the spot or it will not be offered any more. It was a BLATANT LIE since I still got offers to join by mail even if I had become a member. Also, they didn't tell me about the 72hr period to cancel or the seminar was on a Friday!!) It was partly my fault since I was too optimistic on the scale of renovation or purchases I would make in the next few years. My advice is join ONLY AND ONLY IF you have planned to do a BIG renovation project. You should go with an ESTIMATE of the items you WANT to buy and DEMAND to do a comparison of the prices. Also, you should know that most items are top of the line so you could end up over budget. All in all, it was a VERY COSTLY lesson that I have not repeated ever since.

Any company that assaults you with such high pressure sales tactics and does not allow you any time to research the product, is playing you!! If you pay full price for the membership, you are a fool. If you just show some disinterest, they continue to drop the membership price! We paid less than $1,600 and it is still useless to us. They have never had a product that equaled what we were looking for at a better price. Best Buy and hhgregg have always been less expensive. The staff is useless as is their vast "catalog" searching!!! You are on your own.

The prices on some stuff are cheaper. For the most part if you shop around, by the time you pay the shipping cost to get what you want it cost you about the same price. The shipping cost are outrageous. I retired from a shipping company.

Went to direct buy in fort meyers florida. Took the tour, was told how much better service and money we would save. After the tour, we're told we had better take the deal or we could not come back. Also we would receive free credits for best buy travel. On best buy travel you can only use what cruise line they have with sky high prices and you can only use so many credits and have to spend more money to be able to use the credits and only in their time period On agreeing to be a member we were to come back and told how to order a product after you order something. And they make it sound SUPER FANTASTIC...couldn't do that, so was told to go to the front and get my promised free gift - THEY SCAMMED ME! Tried to give me some "entertainment certificate". Purchased custom cabinets. The company sent their specialist. When the cabinets finally arrived a week later that was promised, 3 of the wall cabinets were the height of the old cabinets and 2 were the new length. In addition 1 of the new length cabinets was 4" short. The base spice rack came without a face or base. Lastly I ordered crown molding and received what she termed as flat stock. When I called the specialist, she said she would be responsible for the 4" error cabinet but I was responsible for the other 3 because she sent me the drawings and I signed off.

This place was a joke. It works like a pyramid scheme if you work for them. They give you a set number of people you need to call and a set number of people you must make a sale of membership to. If I didn't make a sale they would ask me why. I tell them people are not comfortable making a decision to buy $5000 membership in one day. We were instructed to tell them if that decide they don't want to do it they had to leave the showroom because it’s a private club and they wouldn't be allowed back later. Everything they say to you is scripted. As a customer service rep I thought I'd be helping people. I wasn't comfortable talking people into committing this to their credit cards if they expressed it would be hard on their budget. If I didn't use their scripts word for word my boss left me nasty notes on my computer. When I wouldn't be pushy they fired me. If people want a deal you are better off on the internet.

I would never recommend this company to anyone. They "left our city" and they cannot accommodate us anymore. We have tried to get flooring and window coverings. "Sorry, but we cannot do anything for you" is what we have gotten from them. So what did we pay this exorbitant amount of money FOR? I am so upset with them I hope I can stop just one person for falling for their high-pressure sales people. They make things look so easy. Don't even think about what it takes to return items. Go for something local so you are able to return if it is not what you want.

I was attracted to the offer of a free Android device and restaurant gift card and actually scheduled a visit to the local Direct Buy show room to listen to their presentation. Then, on the day of the presentation, I read the criticisms online, including this site, and did not go to the presentation. In further research I found that Direct Buy is not technically a scam - you do get a product and/or service for your money. However, it's marketed in ways and has features that make me uncomfortable with joining, including the high sign-up fee ($5000), the 8% maintenance fee and the no return policy.

I was invited to a "Town Hall Meeting" from DirectBuy by mail. I have a DirectBuy Merchandise membership already. This letter from DB stated that I would be able to attend this meeting and discuss the new member program and how improvements were now occurring to the member benefits. The meeting took over 2 hours and during the 2nd half of the meeting the presenter ** offered and presented a DB travel membership upgrade. The presentation posted that average discounts on accommodations for members to be roughly averaging 30% + below all the big travel sites such as Hotels.com and Orbitz.com, pretty much across the board on his slide show.

I really don't know if this Direct Buy thing really works. I've done my background homework and found many many many negative reviews. We sat through the ("timeshare") presentation, and it all seemed too good to be true. Either you pay the membership fee of almost $7,000 or leave; there may be a 3 day trial period after you commit yourself but that's not enough to determine if this Direct Buy works for you. We left and went to brunch happily not handing over almost $7,000 to this buyer be aware scheme. You can always tell how a company is run by the employees they hire. Reception/check in - this should be top priority. The lady at check-in was a total idiot; so in reading the negative customer service reviews on the internet and meeting this idiot, so far the negative reviews are correct. Do your homework. Direct Buy may be good for some people, especially those that don't care about money.

They talked me into becoming a member by telling me I would be able to buy certain product at wholesale cost. I asked them were they sure of this, and their answer was yes. After signing the contract and getting myself into debt thinking that the end result would be beneficial, I found out the product in question was NOT even on the list. Now I am stuck paying for a membership I have no need for. Furthermore, I work in retail. I know what wholesale is. Direct Buy does NOT offer wholesale. It's just a few dollars off the common competitor's MAP... and I do mean a FEW! Not worth it! Stay away from Direct Buy!

My husband and I were offered free plane tickets to anywhere in the US including Puerto Rico and Hawaii. All we had to do was attend a DirectBuy presentation with no obligation. What a joke the offer and the presentation. The offer has so many restrictions you would be hard pressed to find a travel time or travel day that was not excluded. By calling making this bogus offer this shows me the lack of integrity DirectBuy has and there is no way I would sign up for a $5000 membership and expect for them to do what they claim they will do or have access to the quality products at the best prices as they claim. Last year I renovated my house and was looking out for new devices and furniture which could match the new look of the house. I wanted to purchase items which are less expensive but reliable and from a branded company. I then checked out the Directbuy.com website and found that they have great prices on all items. They sell items at a wholesale price which makes it profitable for a customer like me. I then placed an order for a device. I was informed that I will get the delivery soon but I received the product after about two weeks. During this waiting period, I called them several times but they were not ready to answer my queries as to when will I receive the product but when the product arrived, I was really happy to see that the item I ordered was in a perfect condition.I am still using the product I ordered from Directbuy.com without any problems. Overall, my experience with Directbuy was average. Their prices are really cheap compared to other websites and I would recommend it to others as well.

DirectBuy allows you to purchase at wholesale cost on individual items if you're a member. For me, their website is just as important, if not more important, than their showroom. DirectBuy.com allows you to order items at wholesale cost. Most items are not in stock in their showroom, so it's much more convenient to just go online and order. DirectBuy does a great job of showing the products and providing an accurate description. I am almost always pleased with every singe purchase I've made through the website. Delivery is super-fast and they can get your custom order completed faster than anyone. My favorite part of shopping online with DirectBuy is all of the products you can view and purchase. It's truly a wide variety and it actually has a much better selection than I thought before I became a member. Their website is very user friendly and you can track all of your orders through their website once you've logged in. You can see if your order has been processed and shipped and you can even track your shipment. Online shopping with DirectBuy is second to none.

While remodeling our home, we realized that it was going to cost alot of money. I had heard about DirectBuy.com, so thought that I would look the site over. I was amazed at how much I could save by using the site. I did pay a membership fee, but found that even with paying the fee that I was still going to spend alot less than I had originally planned. I was able to find some really great items that I had wanted but at a much lower price. After ordering, my items arrived with just a few days. The items that I ordered all arrived at the same time and were packaged very securely. Since my first order with DirectBuy.com, I have ordered many more times. I think that DirectBuy.com is a great site for anyone who is looking for great money saving deals. I will continue to buy from DirectBuy.com in the future. The television commercials make it seem like this program is less costly than it actually is, so I would only suggest purchasing a membership if you are going to do a large remodel. It is $5,000 to join, and $200 per year after that. While Direct Buy can save you substantial money on large jobs, just make sure you're going to save more than $5,200. We all seen the ads or heard the TV commercials for this DirectBuy Business. Now, how does it work? Basically, they tell us that you can get up to 70% off the retail price for joining. The up to part of the deal does not sound attractive at all. If you can guarantee a 70% off, then I will be interested.Anyways, basically, there is a membership fee of around $5 for a period of three years and then you have to pay $200 a year after wards.With that being said, you are not allowed to terminate your membership so you have to pay on an ongoing basis. Now what the heck is this shady business doing? Why would you pay them 5000 for a membership fee, when you can buy your flat screen or new fridge for less than that? That's completely absurd and everyone should stay away from this website. Now, with today's competition, retailers are giving us very competitive prices that give us a pretty good deal compared to the prices that DirectBuy offers to their members. There is no point joining DirectBuy because there is no transparency at all.You will be just wasting your money. You don't know whether or not you will be saving money because you don't have their prices, and because of this why would you give them the money upfront. You have to spend so much money with them to recoup your investment. What's the verdict? Stay away because I tried to get a discount on a fridge, but they won't tell me how much I would save and wanted me to give them the money upfront to join this exclusive club. Direct Buy is a membership franchise. Membership must be obtained in person before you can access their online shopping. The price to actually join does vary from one location to another. We have been members for about seven years and at the time, the cost to join was $4,300. After joining, a $200 fee is required every year to maintain membership. We joined mostly because we had a lot of remodeling to do in our 1970's house. They carry a vast array of items, but do tend to focus more toward higher ticket priced items. From our experience, you can purchase these higher end items for similar prices of middle-of-the-road type items. One example is that we were able to buy cement board siding for what a big box store wanted to charge for vinyl. Guess it's all in what you want. One draw back is that items can take additional time to arrive (often several weeks) and many items will only ship to the franchise location itself. Of the items we did order online, it was somewhat difficult to navigate their site without knowing exactly who the manufacturer was. The site also tends to be slow to load as compared to other online sites I have used. Another thing to think about is that a lot of items cannot be purchased directly online. Often times you can view the item, but will be told you need to visit a location to order.Bottom line is that if you have a lot of remodeling to do or are in need of a houseful of furniture/appliances, membership may be worth it. If you are only looking to make an occasional small purchase, it would not be worth the money.

I am considering looking for a wall cabinet and the thought of going through the hassle of pouring through books and books and not getting much help from staff is depressing to say the least.  I have ordered things before, had some good experiences when i knew exactly what I wanted down to the size, colour, model number etc., but when I didn't have part numbers and really specific information that the average buyer wouldn't have, the buying experiences were horrible.   I don't know how many hours I spent going over the books and then left exasperated. I wasn't even able to bring my 80 year old mother to accompany me in the showroom.  I recommend you don't even think about purchasing plumbing parts or anything that connects together because I can almost guarantee you won't have ordered all the required parts.   Plus the cost of additional handling, shipping, etc. really brings the prices back up to close to retail, and it takes sometimes two months for your item to arrive. It would be great if they had a few people who knew what was in the catalogues and helped us figure out what was required to order. The warehouse people are helpful but the behind the counter people are terrible.

There's no doubt that if you're a home flipper or general contractor, this model can be leveraged for savings.  However, you have to buy a LOT of stuff to break even on the very steep membership price.  On top of that, the staff are condescending and use very high pressure sales tactics to get you in.  Think carefully before you go to an open house.  Once you turn down the initial offer, you can't go back for 7 years!

I would give this warehouse / shopping dealership a 3 1/2 stars if I could, partly because it is smaller and darker than I would have liked it to be, but also because it was under construction which might be the reason for these issues.We came back to this retailer to try them out again after many years away from them, and this was after receiving an invitation to rejoin at the annual fee rather than re-investing as if we were new customers. This outlet, way out in the very east end, is not really convenient for us, but is now the only Direct Buy outlet in Ottawa. When we joined about 15 years ago, it was for the now no-longer-existent Bells Corners branch which closed after only a few years. I guess Ottawa is not really big enough to support 2 such outlets!First of all, this is a shopping club, for which you pay a significant amount of money at the offset for the privilege of shopping here; then you pay an annual fee. They offer fabulous prices on certain items, and this is a great place to shop if you are constructing a house and need supplies (so I've heard - everything from floor finishings to appliances are supposed to be a better price here.) Even so, it can still be hit or miss. You have to know your prices before agreeing to purchase your items.What I did NOT like in this outlet was: (1) As stated, the size - it's way smaller than I imagined it would be. Bear in mind that they really don't hold stock here; you order by catalogue and then it is delivered to the store. So, you need to know what you want, and come here to buy what you are looking for if it is a better price. Often it is.(2) Washrooms are upstairs. There are only 2; 1 for men, 1 for women. They were clean and big and bright enough. I just wish there had been more booths. There were lineups for both, and the shop was not really busy.(3) Coming downstairs, you are looking down onto the roof of a break-out room which may have contained an office or showroom of some sort inside it. You're looking down on an unfinished roof containing what appears to be fiberglass filling for some reason. Odd - it wasn't outside and didn't need protection from the cold. The ceiling should have been finished off; it looks messy and dirty this way. Perhaps it will get finished while the construction is being done. Or maybe they won't finish it, if they continue to move things around, and if it is normal for them to change the floor plan. I will have to bear this in mind for next time we visit.What I *DID* like:(1) Getting the invitation to rejoin at the yearly rate rather than paying the full membership price all over again (which would have been a "no, thanks".)(2) Free coffee while we browsed.(3) The staff was friendly and very helpful - when they finally interacted with us. On the other hand, they didn't offer - we had to approach them. This is not like a store where the sales staff is all over you. But I would have liked to see that they had a pulse! Nobody even once asked if we were ok, or offered to help in any way. Until after we asked for help. Maybe this is normal?For future reference: I will be checking this place out, hopefully once a month / 6 week cycle to compare prices. If there is anything significant to add to this review, I will let you know. :-)

My parents were directbuy members and when they started offering family memberships, my husband and I decided to get on their membership since we needed a bunch of new furniture. Everyone in this office is fantastic. We worked with Cory and Carl while placing our order. And they were both amazing.I wanted to see if it actually saves a lot of money so I was googling everything while we were deciding what to order.We saved about $2,800 on the couch we ordered, $800 on the cocktail table and about $3000 on the mattress and box spring. It's worth it to get the quality of furniture that they offer.Carl who happens to be the warehouse manager has been nothing short of amazing since then. There have been a few issues with the cocktail table since we ordered it but he always catches the issue before we go to pick it up and keeps us updated on what's going on. Hopefully, the manufacturer can get their stuff together and we can enjoy all of our new furniture as much as we've enjoyed our couch and bed. We had the couch delivered to our home in oakland and while it is pricey it's worth it. I would not have wanted to even try to get it in the door without professional help. The guys that delivered it were super friendly and professional. It was not an easy delivery (a second story walk up with a door that doesn't open all the way) but they never complained.I'm not sure what the normal membership costs, but the quality of furniture and amazing customer service is worth every dollar we paid to join my family's membership

Ever since I have heard about Directbuy, I believed that they're that typical membership shopping and furniture center, expensive price and unreasonably bad customer service to non-members. However, I was surprised that it wasn't.Located at San Antonio Road, the store was surprisingly large with several furniture, appliances and home decors and accessories lining in various places. I noticed that all their products are of good quality and the place is clean and well-lit. I was looking forward to buy a small sofa, so I ended up speaking up with a staff that treated me like an important customer. He got me a nice catalogue and politely walked me through all the products they had.Although they didn't had the kind of sofa I was looking for (I wanted a tiny one for my brother's apartment), I was still impressed with their collection. I'll definitely apply for membership. The prices are competitive and the customer service was not bad.

I have been a member for less than 6 months. At first, I was questioning myself if I made the right decision. I have heard about them when they first opened, but I wished I had checked them out a lot sooner. I have calculated my savings and I already made up my membership fee, and after comparison shopping for the items I need, my savings continue to pile up. Yes, I did go through a home remodel, though I did not buy all the things I needed either. I still found the savings to be substantial from flooring, appliances, tiles, electronic, window treatments. There are some items that they are more expensive, but not by much as mentioned in other posts (this is AFTER the handling fees are included),  but just like any other store, like Walmart, they don't have the cheapest for everything they sell either. Most of the employees are friendly and helpful; in particular, Danielle, has been very helpful and finds a way to save you time. She's always happy to help and with a smile. Mark, the owner, when around, checks in with you and sees how he could help. DirectBuy membership model is not for everyone. There is an upfront cost, but looking at the big picture, it makes sense, especially if you like high end and  quality products.

I've been a member for 4 years and today was the first time I've been disappointed with them. When it comes to getting quality items at a good price, they are great, but if you have a problem, don't count on their customer service to fix it! We ordered a garage door and paid for installation, but the installation was poorly done and when we called to seek assistance their staff basically said it was our fault and that we were stupid to have expected quality installation given the price we paid. My husband was irate (to say the least). We learned the hard way that DirectBuy of Silicon Valley is only good for merchandise and not customer service!!

We are building a new home and joined DirectBuy about a year ago!Our plan was to buy premium products for a lower price and end up with a high end appliances, floors, carpets, drapes etc. at a great price.  The plan is working and we couldn't be happier! We decided it would be a good idea to get a DirectBuy membership since we are remodeling two bathrooms. After spending $7,000 (yes, that's the correct number of zeros) for a three year membership, we only bought one item and it's not related to the bathroom. Since you have to order from catalogs, there's not much chance to see what you're getting, aside from the samples they have in the office. If you're not the type of person who can imagine something in your head, you're wasting your money here. The savings aren't that big and they sock you with extra processing/shipping, etc. fees when you order online. The only good things I can say is the office is very organized and the employees seem nice. But please; do yourself a favor and don't get suckered into spending thousands for a membership here!!!

Just completed a whole house remodel and so glad I decided to join Direct Buy.  Saved many thousands of dollars over and above the cost of membership on my purchase of cabinets, plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, doors, windows, hardware, furniture and built in BBQ equipment.  Customer service at Direct Buy is fabulous!  John was great to work with on my cabinet design and order.  He has lots of great ideas and is very patient.  I had a very unique custom design for several cabinets with tight/precise angles and he nailed it perfectly and everything fit just as planned in my kitchen, laundry room, office and 3 bathrooms.  He really knows what he is doing and if you get stressed out he remains calm!  Josh helped guide me through my order of all my windows and exterior doors and a custom designed front door and transom which turned out beautiful!  When an item arrived that was not perfect, he made sure it was replaced.  Cody is great to work with on getting orders entered, answering questions and following up with vendor questions and issues.  Carl and Will are super polite and helpful in the warehouse when I go to pick up orders.  They always go the extra mile to help me get everything loaded and secured in my vehicle when I come to pick things up.  When you join Direct Buy you really feel like you have a great team helping you out.I'm giving Direct Buy 4 out of 5 stars only because of the inconvenience of having to drive up to Mountain View frequently for design appointments, catalog shopping and to pick up your stuff.  Also somewhat of a challenge getting your contractor to work with the Direct Buy model (I ended up negotiating a fixed fee model with my contractor so he was fairly compensated regardless of if I purchased items through him or through Direct Buy).  If you like to save a lot of money on high quality name brand items and are willing to put in the leg work and travel time then Direct Buy is a great deal!

DirectBuy in Mountain View has been absolutely worth our investment! We joined this year. We are building a home, and have recovered our 10 year-membership dues and then some with just our kitchen cabinet order! DirectBuy is super convenient and the staff is absolutely amazing. We have been working with John and Josh extensively for the kitchen and doors/windows, respectively. Everyone is very knowledgeable and make the home building process much easier. We also are using a designer that works closely with DirectBuy members, Ben, has been excellent as well. To give you an example, I had my cabinets quoted at an authorized dealer of the same brand of cabinet close to Mountain View. They are very high quality cabinets. And DirectBuy price was $14,000 less expensive! If you are doing a renovation or remodel or own property, DirectBuy is a no-brainer. you will recover your membership cost and save thousands of dollars on top of that. We know people that also become members  just for furniture purchases. Hundreds of vendors and catalogs to chose from. The convenience of having everything you need for your home in one location, combined with expertise from the staff, makes directbuy a great place to shop. This particular location is managed very well, and both Paul and Mark do everything they can to make sure their members are happy. The relationships that DirectBuy has with local and national vendors gives members almost limitless choices, you will find what you are looking for almost 100% of the time.

Directbuy is not for everyone, but if you plan to remodel or build, and want a large selection of high quality products to choose from, then you can't go wrong. Notice most negative comments are from people who have not joined or used the membership the way it's intended to. How is that a fair review?I've been a member since 2007. Broke even on my investment in three years, and saved over twenty thousand dollars. The team at Directbuy is always helpful. Never had a bad experience. I should mention Cody. He is awesome, always helpful. He made us feel at ease, never rushed. I felt comfortable asking questions, and he always follow through until we get what we needed. DirectBuy, 2 words absolutely fantastic. For those of you with a negative??? experience, I suggest you do your research before you do something, and perhaps compare with other stores/services. We just finished building our new home, and many items came from DB, with a tremendous savings. Yes we did our homework, yes we order some staff from different sources/stores, yes those items were custom made/special orders, and most of all, those items took the same amount or longer time to get, as one we order from DB. If you want it now, Home Depot may have it in stock for you. Just sayin... As for the service, wow, I spent a lot of time at DB and I start calling them my friends, yes they are great ( sorry I know this is very subjective) Chereese, you are second to none, Cody awesome, Josh, when it comes to windows and doors, you are the master, thank you for putting up with me as I was in your office with or without appointment, always helpful.Also I want to thanks their WH staff, always most helpful with everything, even when we left our orders longer than expected, we were never charge extra. Worst company EVER! Huge membership fees and the absolute worst service imaginable. Don't buy into their hype on lowest costs either. By the time you pay their shipping fees (if applicable) and their 8% warehouse fee you can usually get whatever you're looking for at a good retailer or online vendor and have someone to answer your questions or better yet.... get any sort of customer service. These guys went out of business in Edmonton for a reason! They also left a hokey note on their door when they left. Brutal company and they won't see another cent of our money.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER !!! I had read and done my research prior to getting a Direct Buy account so that I would not be surprised down the road. However, we decided to go with the Platinum membership, which the sales person who sold us was a very nice guy but knew nothing about, he had just said that the concierge service will contact you and go through all the details that was Dec 21, 2013 and its now Feb 2014 and we have heard nothing! We have written to the store owner been promised by the store manager that "oh yes some one will call" and no one has. My husband went into the store and was told the manager would be contacting him in 3 days, and yet again that has not happened. I will agree that we have saved money (not everything is cheaper and usually takes a while to get, but the things we purchased there was a savings that was worth the membership) but the customer service is horrendous and non existent. The edmonton location has not provided the service that they talk about, and really the service ended the day we signed over our money for the membership fee. I would recommend Direct Buy to people but I sure would not recommend going to the Edmonton office, they will just continuously say someone will call you and they never do and continue with excuses.

Seemed like a good deal when looked into. After a $3000plus membership purchase the fine print came on strong. When you arrive, you can check out the "store" but if you leave without buying a membership. You can never come back! Orientation was a pain in the butt to organize and that is when the fine print is explained. Sure, you can find some good deals but after you have ordered, you will get a "handling charge", a "freight charge", an "out of the country" charge, a storage charge, plus any (damn expensive) shipping fees. You will find the end cost is generally similar to local retailers with the added benefit of having same day pickup (easily 6 weeks wait with Direct buy). Any items arriving at direct buy must be picked up within 5 days otherwise an ADDITIONAL fee is applied but when you go in to pick up your items, they are disorganized and you will end up arguing with them about what is YOURS! Phone conversations are frustrating to say the least, the website doesn't have any useful information, etc. If given the choice again,I wouldn't have let the high pressure sales tactics get to me. You should save (a minimum of) $3000 and just buy local. Highly disappointed customer here :'( -Auto

You have to pay a fee to join their club and get the "savings". SCAM SCAM SCAM!! General rule here: if they are on tv every couple of hours, don't trust them!! We got a call to go attend an open house at Direct Buy of Hamilton. We had heard mixed reviews but we decided to go and see for ourselves. To this day Im glad that we attended and became members. I was blown away by the prices and selection that were revealed to me. For the price of my kitchen at retail price. I was able to redo my entire Kitchen and flooring and windows through Direct Buy. Thats the same brands at the retail stores and the same warranties. Next month I will be buying all my appliances and I will save several thousand dollars on those as well. The savings at DirectBuy is great! We saved $8000 on our kitchen cabinets compared to the best retail price of $17000. The service was great! The kitchen designer came to our house and measured the kitchen and discussed few ideas. A week later we went to the club to review the design. Couple minor changes and we placed the order for the kitchen. We also ordered our 5 piece kitchen appliances and saved $1850. 5 weeks later our kitchen cabinets arrived. The DirectBuy kitchen designer arranged the delivery and installation. My wife and I had just bought our new home and the first purchase was to be a washer and dryer. Since this was something my wife wanted right away, we went to a national store to purchase and have delivered as soon as possible. After 2 weeks of faulty machines being delivered to the home and terrible customer service we returned the washer and dryer and went to DirectBuy. This was our first time going through DirectBuy and after the nightmare experience with the National store, we weren't sure what to expect. Tom was amazing! He listened to our horror story we had just experienced and was very patient with us as we carefully selected a washer and dryer. When our Direct Buy member center in Cincinnati closed, I wasn't sure how ordering from Indianapolis would work out. But I'm pleased to say I've been more than happy! Tom is wonderful!! He is very helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. Every time I've spoken with Tom he has gone above and beyond to meet our needs. We ordered over 2400 square feet of flooring and getting it to Cincinnati could have been very tricky and expensive. Not worth the money. Very time consuming finding and ordering product. If you make a wrong purchase many of the suppliers won't let you return or it is costly to return. Samples and books in the showroom are a mess and make it even harder to purchase. There aren't product specialists to help you make sure you are getting what you need. You have to be very self sufficient. You may save some money but your time is worth more.

Buyer beware!!! We were told we could buy EVERYTHING for less except for 5 things: guns, gas, women's clothing, groceries, and ammunition. So far, we have not found ONE THING that is less than what we can buy it for somewhere else. I'd call that a SCAM! Anybody who thinks this is a deal doesn't know how to shop around. A few things we couldn't get through this scummy company: fertilizer, ionic footbath, sony earphones, fountain and pond pumps, nutribullet, squirrel proof birdfeeders, solar panels. Some things Direct Buy was more expensive on than a store: Moen swivel mirror, tub hammered glass sliding doors, metal roofing.

I received my free gift when they first opened the San Antonio store. It was a very nice stainless steel propane gas grill with side burner, and rear rotisserie burner. I have purchased several pieces of top of the line AICO furniture and saved thousands of dollars with just those purchases. What I did not like was it took quite a while to get your purchase after you paid for it up front in full. Plus a couple of times the pieces were damaged so after that long wait time which was almost a month they had to send it back so I had to wait an additional month for its arrival.

The service is absolutely horrible here. Nobody (and I mean NOBODY) picks up their phone. We eventually just had to go there in order to see if they were still open and then when we tried to place an order via e-mail with them, there was no response until weeks later. There was one day left to order and get a sale price we were trying to lock in on some flooring when they finally called back. And they called back 45 minutes before they were supposed to close. No apology for the delay, no explanation as to why nobody picked up their phone, nothing. The prices are good, but this is probably the last location from where you'd ever want to order anything related to DirectBuy. Order online or find another location.

I've been a member for ten years. Originally at the south Denver branch which is now closed. I build and remodel homes and have saved tens of thousands of dollars on everything from tile, hardwood, appliances, plumbing fixtures, jetted tubs, countertops, and especially cabinets. If you are planing on remodeling your home this is the best thing. I consistently get way better deals on items than I can as a contractor. It allows you to do a much nicer remodel for the same money as normal or you can go buget and save a thousands. You do need to understand that it is a wholesale club. You are your own factory rep. So you have to go though the catalogues and find and order your own products. The salespeople will help guide you and point you in the right direction especially with cabinets and flooring but it is really up to you to pick out what you want.

The sales pitch is a used car salesman joke and made me cringe. That being said, the place is pretty awesome once you get on track. It is great for the most expensive materials in home renovations, those of kitchen cabinets, blinds, carpets, tiling, wood flooring and so forth. They have most of the national and local brand names and suppliers. And right there you will be saving 5 - 20K on a single house. If you own a Abbotsford/Langley joint with 5,000+ sq ft of carpeting you can get awesome carpet for the same price of boring cheap carpet and make it less of a McMansion. For the Vancouver flipper/dipper doing 1 a year, this place is a complete godsend. Not only that, the people in Coquitlam are very friendly and helpful. Sylvia is awesome at the daunting task of planning kitchen cabinets and layouts for the kitchen noob. Pat on the front desk is awesome for blinds, flooring and those complex binders of SKUs and prices. The membership price is expensive and they should really lower that to avoid the negative comments from people buying the occasional toaster or TV.

Initially when we subscribed to a membership, we had found savings and acceptable time lines to receive our kitchen appliances. As had already done homework on kitchen appliances, we knew what our savings would be including the cost of the membership. We had saved more on all 4 appliances in any retail sale pricing or wholesale builder pricing. However, other orders since have been slower process than anticipated to receive all items ordered. We are uncertain at this time whether or not we will renew our membership again..

Yes we saved money on a new kitchen, but you still have to pay for the designer and installation. Appliances are harder to save a significant amount on as most stores have decent sales, and good luck if you need to replace an appliance asap. you are looking at weeks for delivery or should I say pick up from their warehouse for pay extra for delivery. They also charge a percentage of the price for every purchase plus shipping and handling. So by the time you are done you don't save quite as much as you thought. Four chairs took 3 months to arrive. So yes you can make up your membership fee, but you better have a ton of things you need, We have only just recouped ours, it took much longer than we thought.

They definitely try to pressure you into paying a handsome amount for membership, and for you to recover that amount or just break even from the savings, you will need to spend A LOT like 6 figures in renovation... even then I would not deal with them, the price is never as good as they advertise. As mentioned in a previous review, unless you are going to do home renovations, you will find it tough to realize the benefits of membership or recoup the membership fees. They do carry the "small things", but you're likely to find a similar price for that product when it's on sale in a retail store. Reason for this is because of their handling and shipping fees. This nullifies usually any savings for the small things when compared to the retail store. However, the savings start to show if you're into the high-end products since those are marked up the most in retail stores. They do carry a lot of furniture, but many brands do not have a showroom here, so are you really going to buy a sofa from a catalog without ever sitting on it? For us, we're doing renovations in our house for the next 5 years - replacing appliances, bathroom renos, flooring, countertops, and furnishing rooms. Based on what I've seen so far, I will recoup the cost of membership and then some, since I typically lean towards medium to high-end products all around. If you aren't doing a substantial amount of home renovations, this membership is definitely not for you. If you are and would normally buy medium to high-end products at a retail store, you will find value in the membership.

Have you ever been to a half hour presentation for a time share? You know you're in trouble when you realize that 4 hours have run by and you still don't have that free trip to the local resort that was promised. This same trick is pulled off by Direct buy.. Currently (2013 Dec) they have a little postcard that they have sent to local house owners that say something like come get your free Android 7 inch tablet. There seems to be nothing suspicious on this card . . . . . but wait there is this little tiny box of small print that you have not quite noticed in the corner of the card. What does it say? Well it tells you what they have to say by law which is that you do have to do something for this "Free" Android tablet and it now is looking kinda fishy. You and your spouse must attend a 90 minute seminar first, though it also points out that you also must be worth $50,000 in order to participate so you can't just give the card to your unemployed brother either. A sales rep came in our medical practice trying to sell memberships. When the receptionist told him we weren't interested and didn't have time to listen to the sales pitch the salesman got very ugly and angry and told her that she wasn't busy and that we were a joke. He then proceeded to leave and flip off our staff in front of patients in our lobby as he was leaving. We contacted corporate and received a call back with nothing but excuses and was told he was reprimanded. If this was my business he would have been fired! To know that this company will allow such a foul angry individual work for them completely changed my mind of ever buying anything from them.

we've been a member for almost a year now, and I think we've saved about $30 so far on purchases. What mattered most to my husband was the sales pitch regarding remodeling supplies, more to the point, shingles. So after spending an entire day, trying to get a hold of, or waiting for call backs from a sales person from DirectBuy, then from the sales person from the vendor that we would be dealing with, my husband comes home about 7:40 pm and goes to retrieve the emailed order form to confirm that it is correct. It is correct, but then he would need to email it back to DirectBuy who then would email it to the vendor, who would then call my husband to arrange delivery, about a week to receive shipment. All for a savings of approximately $100. Yep that's what they don't tell you during the sales pitch. It wasn't worth the trouble, nor the wait, so my husband went directly to a box store and paid retail like everyone else, without the hassle or wait. Our time is worth something.

First off, they tricked me into believing I had won a drawing so I drove 30+ mins on my lunch break to pick up my "winnings" and was made to listen to the entire pitch before they gave me a voucher to use on their website (not at all what the woman who called me said it was). If a company lies to you right from the beginning, why would I ever want to invest in that company? Second, upon looking through the website where the voucher directed me to go, I found that there are no "deals" on this website (specifically speaking about the travel section). I can and did find cheaper deals on Expedia, even though their website was telling me these were the best deals, since I was using my voucher... All in all, I feel like this company is not a trustworthy company and I would advise on not giving your business to them.

On Thursday July 16, 2015 my wife (Pamela) and I went to Direct Buy at 9454 Philips Hwy Ste 1 Jacksonville, FL 32256 at 6:00 P.M. to listen to Troy’s sales presentation. After talking with another sales person name Danny we decided to buy one of their packages with the understanding that we could use some vacation credits towards our cruise that we were go on at the end of the year. We gave a deposit (check # 530) for $1,375.00 (cleared on Monday July 20, 2015) and finance the other $3,615.00. After we got home and had a chance to talk with Benny on Saturday July 18, 2015 from the travel agency with Direct Buy we found out we could not use the vacation credits. We realize the package was not for us. I looked over our contract and noticed that we had 3 business days to cancel for a full refund and you would receive a full refund within 10 days. We could either deliver or certified mail a written notice. On Sunday July 19, 2015 we hand delivered a hand written cancellation letter and our contract to Direct Buy at 9454 Phillips Hwy Ste. 1, Jacksonville, Fl. 32256 at 11:00 A.M. and handed it to Michelle the receptionist at the front desk. At the time we asked for Troy or Danny but she said neither were available. On Friday 24, 2015 I received a letter from Beta Finance – Welcome Letter -. I called them and they confirmed that my contract was canceled on Thursday July 23, 2015. My 10 days for my full refund was up back on Tuesday July 28, 2015. I called on Wednesday July 29, 2015 Michelle was very rude and ask me what made me think I was getting a refund. And again Troy and Danny was not available and she would have them call me. Still waiting On Thursday July 30, 2015, both my wife and I called and only Michelle would talk to us. Friday July 31, 2015 I finally got thru to Troy and he apologize and said the check was processed and we should receive it by Tuesday August 4, 2015 and he would call Tuesday just to make sure we have received it. No call No Check. Monday August 3, 2015 my wife called Direct Buy’s corporate headquarters and they have tried to get the owner of the franchise to resolve this matter. But all they have done is responded their (corporate’s) email is with an email apologizing to them and saying it’s being processed. My problem is nobody will call us. And they are in breach of their contract. It has been one lie after another. Starting from the first phone call stating that we were getting at least a free 2 night vacation. That was not true because you have to pay $12.00 just to be able to get the paper to make the reservation and then another $30.00 -$50.00 when you make reservations.

We have had no problem. Prices are really less than manufacturers and we have saved a lot. I wouldn't recommended to anyone who does not do a lot of shopping for their home. Its great if you have a new home or just starting out. We bought our BOOS table here and the price was ridiculously low than to buy from outside the club.

Price is not the best if you become a member, hidden cost mostly 95% of there stuff and 5% good price which they use for marketing and persuading you to be a victim of this huge screwy company. We joined the Monroeville club in January 2010. I can say that we were a bit nervous after joining that we did the right thing. Our situation: We had been looking and pricing our kitchen remodeling project for about a year, but gave up on the idea when the economy tanked. We not only saved over 11,000 dollars on our kitchen, but the designer was able to add a few things to our design that we didn’t even know were available. Pros: Great pricing on cabinets. Extremely helpful and responsive staff. Bill, the designer was great to work with. Although we have yet to purchase outdoor furniture (we have been researching that recently), the pricing looks to be about a 30% savings on the stuff we are looking at compared to the best prices we can find on the internet. Cons: Some items take awhile (several weeks) to come in. Savings on some items is marginal. If an item is damaged, it has to be reordered. Nothing is stocked in the store. We have been thrilled with our experience and are looking forward to using it more in the future. We recently found out that we are going to be grandparents and are about to start shopping for baby furniture as a gift!

Crappy service for your paid membership!! 1) lack of selection- just one supplier of gazebos, and just one expensive supplier of paving stones; I had to source my driveway stones from outside Directbuy 2) not enough savings to justify your membership, 3) I feel suppliers use Directbuy to offload their discontinued stock 4) plus stone-age customer service. God forbid, you get a defective product shipped, it's your headache now!! Fight to return it, fight to get your refund, wait for a couple of months till you get your money back. And plus - please do your own follow-ups - don't depend on Directbuy customer service!! They will snooze over it forever. The follow-up on the refund for 3 Butler stools with peeling paint got worse. Yesterday, Nancy, the owner of Directbuy London, told me she will not refund me, until she has secured a donation receipt against which the supplier will refund her. When I pointed out that it is more than 3.5 months since I placed the order, she said she did not care and offered to transfer my membership to Hamilton branch. New members beware what you are signing up for!! You will be trapped into a membership scheme that does not work for your interests. I almost got stuck with $853.93 worth of crappy stools, as Nancy tried to pursade me to keep them. But now I have to wait till her highness decides to refund me.

I was simply interested in getting more info, and maybe checking out what Direct Buy was, however, instead of getting some quick info I was talked to like I was an idiot, and called several times over, including 5 calls in ONE DAY! This is ludacris the lady who called me was extremely rude, pushy, and not someone I would EVER do business with, which is why I simply did NOT return the call, or answer the calls. I put the number in my phone as "DO NOT ANSWER!" If this is how you conduct business you will see yourself not in business for long, and after reading others reviews I think they are WAY off in their practices. Want more customers? Treat them with respect, and don't harass them.

I worked there for about a year and I helped sign up many members that were excited and surprised at the savings on quality items for everything around their home. I am no longer there but still recommend it to anyone that is making purchases for their home especially new home owners or recent empty nesters. The people complaining about phone calls are irrelevant as they have actually never gone into a show room to see what it is like. It is a shame they felt as though there were not treated properly but the owners are fantastic and reasonable people. If they knew that someone was being "harassed" or knew that someone was feeling "harassed" they would do what they could to fix it immediately. If you are open minded and want to save, I would make an appointment today.

What Direct Buy IS - A service were if you are an EDUCATED BUYER and take the time to do your own research and make sure you know exactly what you are purchasing before you buy it you will save a bundle. What Direct Buy IS NOT - a white glove, the customer is always right, even when they are wrong, they will fix any problem that arises because YOU made a mistake when you ordered something. If you really need that service...keep your $4-5,000 to join and go to a brick & mortar store. I have been a member since 2007 and I saved the membership fee on my first two purchases. My parent purchased the exact same mattress as me...I paid $1,875 and got a check back for $170 when the MFG dropped the price. My parents paid $4,800. Just ONE item and I saved over $3,000! Since then I have save thousands on some major home upgrades/repairs. Do not join if you need small stuff (under $1,000)...same price is available on Amazon with faster shipping. If you are moving into a new home or doing some bigger remodeling projects...definitely worth the membership fee. Caveat Emptor... Let the Buyer Beware!

They try to get you by giving you a good price but when you add all extra fees that doesn't make any sense like handling fee which most of the time five hundred dollars or more because they charge you $.50 per pound plus they don't deliver the times home in most the order then you deal with their delivery for at least couple of hundred more. I have been a member of Direct Buy for 5 years. I paid a very large fee to join. The hours of the store make it almost impossible to get there and look for anything. You have to search catalog after catalog to find what you are looking for so prepare yourself to spend hours there. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. Tues. - Thurs. they are open until 9 PM, Friday 6 PM and Saturday 10 - 5 PM. So, I get to the train station from work at 7 PM. They are a 30 minute drive from my house. That really eliminates going any day except Saturday. So, I have to give up my Saturday to shop there. I do not call that customer service. If they were open until 10 PM then you could go Tues. - Thurs. and get something done. But of course they are not interested in what my needs are. If you are buying kitchen cabinets it is worth your money, time and effort. If you are not, I can't say it is worth it. They have a website, but it is poorly designed. What is interesting is they charge you a handling fee, even when the merchandise is shipped directly to you. There is a fee they charge as their markup, which I understand. However, if the item is not going to the warehouse I do not think there should be a handling fee. I cannot say I recommend Direct Buy at all.

Three years ago when we were building our cottage, we spent hours in Direct Buy in Barrie. We purchased everything from windows, hardwood, lighting, doors, door handles, toilets, showers, taps sinks, kitchen cabinets, counters, bathroom cabinets, beds, appliances and furniture. Being an accountant I kept care track of my savings and conservatively we saved over $100K during this project. All the staff in the Barrie location were excellent but in particular Russ was our go to man. Whether we wanted advice on which supplier would be good for our needs or even where to look in the showroom he was incredibly helpful. On occasion we would visit other direct buy locations and my husband and I would joke that we needed to find their "Russ"!

What a great concept! We found that the cost of joining it was worth every penny. We saved over $50,000. We purchased all of our windows(which were a vast amount) and exterior doors, tile for the kitchen and bathrooms, marble counter tops for a large kitchen, sub-zero refrigerator, a back up GE fridge, a 6 burner with a griddle and double ovens, and great Maytag washer and dryer and a 6' jet air Kohler Duet tub and a king memory foam bed. We could not have been happier. The service and advice and support was totally professional....and I would recommend Direct Buy of Albuquerque to anyone facing a large investment such as a new home or remodel.

We have been members for over a year and it has been a wonderful experience. We redid our kitchen and the membership well paid for itself with this one job. We were able to get the very high end cabinets and the help we obtained from the cabinet area in planning the kitchen and in the decorating department was wonderful. If you had to pay an interior designer or an architect to do this, it would have also been very expensive. They took their time with you for an hour or two hour block as many times as you needed to make sure that everything was thought out and planned out to perfection. Jason was wonderful and made you feel that you were his priority during each visit. They let you set up as many appointments as you needed to feel confident with what you were doing. I highly recommend them if you are going to do any kind of major kitchen remodel. My experience each time I go into the building has been excellent and they go out of their way to help you. I highly recommend them.

Dear DirectBuy of Sarasota, As the marketing manager of a small business, was passed for the purchase of an entire room of custom cubicles for newly constructed call center. The timeframe in which I was given the complete this task was very short. The small business, we make the most of every opportunity that we have, and a visit from a highly regarded potential business partner made crucial that the call center be furnished and presentable in anticipation of the VIP visit. I made several visits to the Sarasota DirectBuy showroom until I had a solid plan in place. HON’s designers were very helpful in getting detailed specifications together, and when the order was placed, I was well within the timeframe to get the call center completed. When I placed the order, I worked with Deborah, was always the friendliest, most professional DirectBuy staff member that I encountered during my several visits of the Sarasota showroom. When taking order, she confirmed the delivery dates for each item individually as a cautionary measure. We thought everything was good to go. HON, however, did not live up to the promised delivery dates. The resulting delays caused ever to follow up and communicate changes and check on the status to ensure our anticipated delivery. While I was extremely frustrated with HON not delivering on its promises, I was very impressed with Deborah's tenaciousness and constant follow-up. It helped a lot to know I had someone in my corner. It was as if she was as responsible as I was reading the call center furnished. The final result was the delivery was made the day before the visit, and we were able to complete the HON installation within 18 hours of the VIP visit. The call center is beautiful, and I am sure we couldn’t have pulled it off without Deborah's help. Your organization is lucky to have someone like her working for you.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! We were forced to rebuild our home after it was destroyed by a tornado in 2009. We joined Direct Buy and purchased most of the products for our kitchen including; appliances, sinks, faucets, granite and cabinets for the new home. Within months of moving in we noticed the paint on the cabinets had many little chips and were directed to drive to the manufacturer of our cabinets, about 45 minutes from our home, to pick up touch up paint, which we did. Touching up the paint became a weekly event. Fast forward 5 years and we have an entire Kitchen FULL of Cabinetry with paint literally popping off!!! The Direct Buy club has changed owners, the cabinet manufacturer has changed the name of their business and no one will warranty ANYTHING :( Be VERY VERY careful doing business with this company or you could be out $10Ks of dollars like us and with a huge mess!!!

Came Into Direct buy expecting a catch, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they carried most everything in my home as well as items I had no clue they could give me access to. I read a lot of negative reviews, but after experiencing the prices and level of service they provide I was instantly sold. My wife and I purchased a living room set at a quarter of the price advertised at ashleys furniture, and they helped us plan new counter tops for our kitched and bathroom remodel. If we would have gone to a retail store we would have had to settle for laminate counter tops instead of the granite my wife really wanted. We will be using this from now on for home improvements and gifting. If you like to save money these people will definitely make sure you get your money's worth. They even had an in house designer which will help when it comes time to plan our new baby room. If your doing home improvements check these guys out.

I thought I would never be back at DirectBuy! However, a couple of years ago, I received a phone call from one of the membership directors inviting me to renew my membership. When I expressed my feelings and my decision of never be back again, I was told that new owners were making things differently and, if I had still some pending projects, it would be to my advantage to at least visit the "new place". I decided to follow the advice and am very happy I did. I was introduced to the new owners Frank and Sue Porreca. Frank showed me around...it was indeed a new place. Not only it was much more inviting than before, (they moved the service desk from behind the building to the front, meaning they consider the members as a priority), but also I could feel now that all the personnel have a different attitude towards the member. Everyone I have had the opportunity to ask for help, has shown an especial interest to help and satisfy my inquiries. I have dealt with Adam, Sam and Simon at the front desk; Kylie at the blinds department, Tanya at the flooring department and every one has demonstrated ownership of the situation and when for some reason I needed something more, out of their level of decision making, Sharron, the manager, was always there, willing to be part of the solution not part of the problem. Things have changed a great deal with the new owners! I have completely renovated my kitchen, cabinetry as well as appliances; changed the flooring in all the first floor, both ceramic as well as solid wood and have saved lots of money. I take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped me at the club but did not mention before, not because I didn't want to, but because I could not recall all their names in the kitchen department and even at the warehouse, whom have been so helpful at loading my truck. Thank you so much to everyone and all at DirectBuy Ottawa and continue improving in benefit of the members! Obviously this new attitude permeates to the team from the owners! I have been a member with direct buy since 1999, In the first order l made back my membership fee. Over the years l can honestly say that l was able to purchase top of the line furniture and appliances at a fraction of the cost that l otherwise would not of been able to purchase. I would of had to settle for a lesser valued item. Recently, l had a problem with an appliance I placed a call to Lindsey at DB and she took quick care of the situation. She spoke with Frank who is now the Head of this amazing place and within half an hour he personally called me and reassured that they would deal with the issue for me. This saved me alot of stress. I have too say that DB stands behind their clients and go out of their way to make sure you are 100% satisfied and that you are getting the big savings on the best of the best items. I have referred many friends and family to become members over the years, especially if your moving to a new home or cottage. It would make it so much easier to search and place orders if the in-store catalogs were some how digitized. Unless you know the manufacturer's name, it is difficult to narrow down what one might be trying to find.

We became members in 2004 we are now into our second membership with Direct Buy. Since that time we have renovated 3 homes and fully built the one we are in now. Direct Buy has been with us all the way. The move from the location on Shefford initially made the Club a little less convenient to where we were living at the time, but the newest version of the club has a great feel and flow. Nicely laid out and comfortable, it is a nice place to shop. We just wanted to say thank you for our most recent experience in the Club. We have always had great service and support by the team at the Ottawa DB and our most recent purchase was right up to standard. Angella H in kitchens agreed to meet with us on short notice to discuss our cabinet needs. We are not doing a kitchen but a unique wall of cabinets in our bedroom as well as custom cabinets around a fireplace (DB of course) and into the new bathroom (will also be DB). Angella wanted to ensure we could get our order done while a special sale was still being offered by our vendor of choice. Numerous versions and changes were conducted quickly and efficiently. Angela listened and responded like a true professional. The result was fantastic. We received our order a couple of weeks ahead of the estimated date, the product was exactly what we had envisioned, the one problem (a door damaged on shipping) has been resent to the manufacturer for replacement with a simple call to the DB team. I have been dealing with them since 1991. They have been honest and straightforward in what they can and cannot provide. I have saved quite a bit of money using Direct Buy and the products delivered are as shown. They have refunded my money when the product did not function as it should, which was just once. They are pleasant, knowledgeable and easy to deal with. Their sales pitch is a "sales pitch", but they do not misrepresent themselves. Their catalog showroom provides adequate space for the number of catalogs and samples they have. For those that need items immediately, it is not the place and I have been in that position. But for those that can anticipate their needs two weeks ahead, they can save you money on most items. You should probably try to figure out how much you'll be using it in the first year because the membership fee is substantial. We were ready to purchase a large number of vertical blinds the first year and we saved our entire membership fee on our blinds purchase alone. Some years the renewal fee is more than we save, usually it's less. Sometimes they have what I want, sometimes they don't. All in all, it's been a good experience for us. They are definitely sales people and try to get you to join. You just have to be prepared with some pricing of items you may be purchasing in the near future, check out their pricing and do the math. If it works, they are good folks to work with. If it doesn't, leave, but don'f use pejorative terms like "con artists" to describe them.

DIrect Buy Toronto NorthWest Brampton has exceeded my expectations regarding service to a member and have been so helpful to me that I had to write this review.
